Hi all

I've got a couple of licence disc holders where the glue has reached its end, and I don't want to throw them away as they're really good quality and you can't get them anymore (Kruger park).
I've read on the internet that the tape that's used is 3M VHB 4941 but a roll of that stuff costs R800, and it's way, way more than I'll ever need.

Does anyone know where I can get a smaller roll, or does someone on this forum maybe have a piece for me, maybe 30cm? I'm happy to pay a pro rata amount for that piece.

Alternatively if anyone has other suggestions on what to use to fix the holder to the windscreen? I've tried super glue, normal tape from Builders, Gorilla tape that supposedly has high strength (it doesn't) and a couple other things, none of them work. It always falls off again.

Pattex 120kg/m2 double sided tape usually works for me.
Just ensure the glass and holder are clean (clean with meths or similar)

What you can try is take it to PG glass and ask them for a few drops of windscreen adhesive. Obviously that stuff is strong and you may have trouble taking it off without breaking it.

There is something my dad used long time ago, don't know what it's called but the only way i can describe it as black prestik.

Please don't use super glue, it doesn't shrink and expand appropriately with the glass and therefore can cause the glass to crack.

To surface-mount anything onto glass, use Pratley 1-2-3

For spacing applications such as license disc holders, you need a double-sided tape of sorts.

If you want the 3M tape, contact the guys at Tape Shapes, they supply the die-cut pieces of tape.

Clean the windscreen properly before sticking anything on it, then the adhesive won't let you down.

Thank you so much for the advice everyone! Much appreciated! You guys rock.

It's called Sikaflex, they use it to glue windscreens in place. Can be cut with a wire and cleaned up by scraping it off.

Hi. I'm in Roodepoort, JHb. Thank so much for the offer. (Hopefully you aren't in Cape Town or something😂
I'm in PTA East

I would not recommend. It gets everywhere and is near impossible to get off. You accidentally touch the fuzzy part of your car or the pillars and you have black spots forever.
If it gets on the window sure. But he'll have to be suuuper careful when applying it to the windshield.

Yeah, I never really entertained using the sikaflex lol. Still looking for some tape.
