The Incredibly Tight Budget Build

Hi Ruan

Love what you have done with the case, especially the vinyl :)

Are you thinking of SLI/Crossfire now? Just a heads up if you are, that motherboard will run the second card only at PCI-e 2.0 4x.
Thanks z3ttro :D

I have considered this, I had a look at benchmarks and internet wide opinions(Yup, dont lol) and the 3-6fps loss that it would cause isnt going to be a huge issue for me.

Well I have not tried it myself, just heard to avoid it. Post some benchmarks when you have them :)
What cards are you thinking of getting? I Crossfired a 7870 and a 7850 a while back and they rocked together.

I am looking at two 7850s, seems like people get good results with them

considering this is a "tight budget" build, one would have expected the slots to work like that and if you go SLI/Xfire, you won't get full speeds.

higher end stuff would be solution for higher speeds in SLI/Xfire

TBH the 3 frames you will gain by upgrading to a full speed second pci-e lane is not worth it.

Zactly, but those fatal1ty boards are soooo pretty

This is slowly but surely moving away from a budget build, but the CUD is like a raging beast inside me, it cant be stopped :(

Watercooling goodies coming tonight :D

So last night wifey sent me out to get the usual stuff

I came back with Bread, Milk and an Intel RTS2011LC :D

Picked up this sweet Intel cooler from adamr

The old cooler(which is just over a week old, LOOOL)

After a lot of swearing and shouting at the PC, this happened

I would have loved to run the tubing through the top of the case, but my top mounted fan said no :(

And all plugged in and running

Temps are great, on my slightly clocked 2320 it sits like so:
At 80% Fanspeed it sits at 24° on idle and 41° under full load
At 50% Fanspeed it sits at 32° on idle and 55° under full load

With the fan at 50% you cannot hear it, so I'm extremely happy :D:D

I hate to be the one to tell you this, but you've got it installed the wrong way around :p

There's a picture of one I had installed in my rig a while back. Hope this helps :)

Thanks bud :D

But I don't get what you're saying, surely the radiator can be flipped any way around?
On the Intel website they have as I have done it, with the inlet and outlet pipes entering the from the bottom

Any time mine :) I'm coming from an aesthetics point of view which is why I had mine installed the other way around. I'm not actually sure whether it affects flow in any way :?

Oh yeah, I totally get what you're saying.

If I want to install it the other way around I'll have to remove the top fan as it fouls on the tubing :(

I'll try and find a way tonight :)

my 1st choice would have been to see how it looks with the tubing ports on the radiator, on the side of the side panel that opens and closes.

so your's, rotated once, clock-wise.

That is also not possible with this case as the radiator is not square and it already a tight fit, will need a bigger case then ;)

Sigh, this has gone from bad to worse :( I have the CUD

A mod might aswell change the title because this isnt a budget build anymore, now its just making me poor

I have received Card 1 of 2 so long

Installed the one so long, extremely happy. Gained quite a bit in performance with just the one, so I cannot wait for the second one to get here

Then this happened
I saw this case and had to have it

Also moved the radiator and fan to the outside of the case

Wow, looking great, however this is no longer a budget build ;)

Love those coolers on the Gigabyte cards. So silent and does a great job at cooling the card.

Oh my you need someone to reel you in at this rate I see trouble on the horizon :D

Now Ruan needs to sell his Scout so that he can buy my 350D :p

The CUD is strong in this thread CUDweiser Lite . Nice build bru.. Wish I had the time to do these mods..

Necro much?
