I am astonished at the chances some people take when selling stuff, knowing well that what they promise is not what they are committing to. I recently Bought a card from Monrekr [Sale] - EVGA GTX1060 6Gb Graphics card R2000 | GPU and what the add stated is not even close to what i got. When I received the card it was rusted all over and the PCIe was damaged from what looked like fall damage, card also overheated quite rapidly to 96c. I called Monre that same moment I opened the package and mentioned my grievances, and mentioned to him that I would rather have him take the card back and refund me as I can not sell this card, due to the poor condition. He replied by promising me a different backplate and was not keen on the refund. I have not heard from him since.

PS the damage to the PCI e was not due to couriers as the carton box and paper wrapping was in good order.

I don't know if I am just too difficult, but Ill share the pics just for your opinion.

@Caspaas bought the same card if I look at the feedback? Or he sold more than 1...

Interesting to note, there are two negative deals linked to the same deal?

@Monrekr , I know you have seen this thread after I tagged you earlier. Why don't you respond ?

You should refund the buyer and if you decide to sell it again, at least be honest with the condition.

Your ignorance of this thread means you have no interest in sorting this out and if that's is the case, there's no reason why you should be allowed on carb

Scorpioman86, apologies for being busy working during the day and not immediately able to respond to you.

I do not appreciate this negative rating but will accept the rating as this as everyone has the right to their own opinion.

Here's my input:

As per my ad, I advertised a "EVGA GTX1060 6Gb" graphics card and shipped a gtx 1060 6Gb in a working condition.
The condition in the description states the truth - "Card has never been overclocked or mined with".
It also states "AS IS". (Which is normal due to the fact that it's second hand, we all know this, its a forum for mostly second hand items).

I understand that there are some stains on the back which Witpapier refers to as rust, this is due to the fact that I have a house on the beach. The humid air does leave these stains unfortunately.

The card was fully functional and was used up to the time that I removed it from my working machine the morning of shipping.

I have never had issues with the card overheating or anything and I was playing games with this card about every second day or so for about 4 hours each night, again with no issues.

He says that he had used "Braso" to clean the card, this as well as the fact that he had the pci pins in a vice could cause other damage to the card.

I have not noticed any damage to the pci pins while it was in my possession and I have checked the photos that I have of this card which also doesn't show any noticeable damage.

Due to the fact that this card was fully functional with the latest EVGA drivers with the recommended EVGA Precision software for fan control (automatically installed with the driver updates) I cannot agree to a refund.

I responded to Witpapier's whatsapp on Tuesday saying that I'll get back to him as I'll try and arrange a new backplate for this card and ship it to him as the only thing that I can take responsibility for is the backplate.

If you feel that I'm being unfair, feel free to block or suspend my account but I will not be apart of a petty fight.

No, that is not acceptable.

You have one hour to post your decision or I'll accept that you're going with 2.
I highly disagree with you as the card was in a great condition, working, not overheating, playing games, etc.....

Go ahead and ban me then, seeing that "primary school rules" are being applied here. I was stating the facts.

Pictures was sent to Witpapier and he still agreed to buy this SECOND HAND card which said AS IS.

You as a person cannot in a real world go and look at a opened, second hand packet of chips in Shoprite, negotiate a discount price and still expect a sealed packet upon payment...

Goodbye then.

What you can do is accept that they're open and fresh and then be pissed when they're full of mould, which is the equivalent of what's happened here. Please share the pictures you took of the card.

Please provide me with your email address so that I can send them to you?

@Monrekr, these photos were taken on the 12 April as per your message and you used the card until the day you shipped it.

I assume it's safe to say that the card was not shipped on the 12th and as a result these don't prove that when you shipped the card, there was no damage.

I am also curious about the conversation you had with @witpapier because he said he called you as soon as he received the card, was the pcie damage part of the conversation or the issues was the rust ?

@Monrekr i have sent you a pm with my email address to send the pictures.

@witpapier , when did the cleaning of the card with Braso take place and was the card in a vice ?

@Caspaas you are getting a ban for itrader abuse.
The pictures were sent to you via email.
He cleaned the card on Tuesday, the same day of receiving this card as per our conversation on Tuesday.

I understand the pictures was taken a week before shipping but it also doesn't prove that this was damaged in my possession. He phoned ,me and told me about the damage to the pci pins and the rust but how do I know that this damage didn't occur in the vice?

After I've gotten home later that afternoon, I did not have high hopes of getting any response from Monre, as he was going to supposedly call me back. Which never happened. I then took Braso on the back plate to see if it would remove the rust. It did make a improvement but there is pitmarks where the rust ate away the metal. What I did with the PCIe damage, I used a small vice grim to gently compress it back to its original thickness without damaging it any further. I then took of the shroud and cleaned the card using a fiber cloth and toothbrush. When I removed the cooler the thermal paste was dry and the cooler seemed to not be on too tight. I don't know how long the card ran at these high Temps but barely started a Farcry 5 game and the Temps went 96c when I exited. I'll gladly email the after pics

I was at work once again which is why I didn't get back to him immediately but after about two hours I returned a WhatsApp message to him. I am unfortunately on the road the whole day busy with site visits so I can't always answer my phone which is why I sent him a WhatsApp.
I know for a fact that I wouldn't sell a damaged GPU for that price. The card also overheated after he tampered with it. I used this card without any temperature issues.
Im done arguing and tying to state my case. Feel free to ban me if you want.

Ok we are getting somewhere.

The card was damaged when it got to the buyer, this you have confirmed based on the phone call. You sad you shipped it without damage and yet the buyer said it was packaged safely to avoid damage by the courier, i am inclined to assume that the card got damaged in your possession.

The ad was misleading on condition and if i was the buyer i would demand a refund or recourse based on the rust alone.

You cant say "how do you know if the damage wasnt caused by the vice" , if you knew as soon as the card was received by the buyer that it was already damaged.
