So I'm in need of help. I updated a friend pc bios to help upgrade to a newer version ryzen and now it "bootloops" fml

Board is a MSI X470 Gaming Pro

Is there any capable guys here who can reflash the bios. I need your help.

How do you mean it bootloops?
What exactly is it doing?

Boot loop on bios or boot loop windows?

Oh, if it does, then happy days!

I googled the board and 'bios flashback'
came back saying it didn't support it, only B450 did.

I don't see the Bios Flash button on the board + No mention of it here.

Might be salvageable, but us nerds need more detail of what it's doing.

might be as simple as a clear cmos or reseat ram.

Might be secure boot switched on from the bios flash, needs to be switched off.

This is quite difficult as you will need to probide the entire mobo with CPU and Ram to ensure it is working after flash. I can flash a new bios for you directly to the bioschip. However it depends on if the bios chip is removable or if its soldered onto the board. You will need to take into account shipping risk as well therefore it is risky. Not alot of folks out there that can Hex into a bios chip contents and flash it accordingly as most bios files provided by vendors are in Cap format and not Rom anymore specifically to cripple self flashing

I think AVG or Avast is needed.
It might need a Rootkit cleanse with a USB drive washed in Sunlight soap.

/the above is not serious in any way. Except if you think it is.

Does the Motherboard definitely support the new version of Ryzen? I had a case where my motherboard were able to fit the CPU however it did not support it.

However the fact that the PC goes into a bootloop may be a different cause, usually with a bios issue the pc just boot up but doesn't post. May need to review your RAM as well or different CPU for eliminating possible points of failure

I had that exact same motherboard a while back. It does not have Bios Flashback :(

I remember being so nervous when we updated the Bios to support my 5800x

Did you leave the board for a few minutes?
After bios updates, the board needs to retrain the memory. Maybe it just needs a few boot cycles?

Sorry for the late response.

So what happened is I did the bios update. Pc restarted fine, went into bios and checked that all is what it should be, turned the pc off and just for piece of mind I cleared the bios. Then no more boot. Tried 5 different sticks of ram. All does the same. Board powers on. Cpu easy debug light lights up for 5 sec its goes out and then repeats till you switch off at psu.

Ok, so this is fixable.

Try clear the CMOS again on the board.
Try with the power plugged in (PC off), and try with all power drained from the system (unplug the power and press the power button a few times to drain the capacitors.) then clear the cmos by pushing the button on the board to clear it.

I've had this issue before with a gigabyte x570 board.

Tried this quite a few times 😔

Ok, the fact that it booted up after the update and then refuses to after you did a cmos clear indicates the bios update didn't fail.

I had the same thing with a gigabyte x570
The bios would not clear if the board had power going to it.

I had to unplug the power, make sure the caps were all drained but pushing the power button a few times.
Then held the clr cmos for a good 10 seconds.
It then finally reset.

Yeah no unfortunately I really think the bios is buggered. Murphy hates me with a passion

OP doesn't want help, he just wants it to be a bios issue. He just wanted us to know. 😁

Can you not just order a new BIOS chip from the internet? Small and replaceable.

I know that hot BIOS flashing was a thing but I don’t know if it’ll work now.

Last guide I found was from 2004.
