Hi everyone,

I would really appreciate some of your advice here. I was wondering if I should build a completely new PC, or if I should just add to the current components that I have. I am not very "tech savvy". Therefore, I was wondering if any of you could provide clarification?

My current specs are as follows :

CPU - Intel i5 4670k 3.80ghz
GPU - AMD RX 580 8 GIG
RAM - 2 X 4 gig Hyper Fury 1600mhz
Motherboard - MSI B85-G43 Gaming
Harddrive - 1TB (Quite old)
SSD - none
Power Supply - NEO ECO 620w
Screen - Old 60hz LG crap

Thank you!

If you have a large budget and PC is slow - new system.

If you have a small budget and PC is slow - upgrade current.

If you have a very very small budget, just get a SSD. It's 2021!

If you have no issues, just keep current and save for a large budget, new system.

Hi Ainsley!

Thanks for the heads up! I am really not glued up with specifications 😅, my brother got hold of these specs for me because I didn't even know where to find them. I can work fine with this setup, but the problem is, sometimes when I hop on to play a game or something it doesn't perform well.

How big of a budget are we talking if I were to buy a good gaming pc that would last me 6 years?

Thanks man!

Something that would last 6 years? Difficult to guess because we've had a lot of progress and competition in the market over the last year or so, so we might see improvements in leaps and bounds.

My current budget for my new system which would be upper mid-level and I'd expect it to last a few years with minimal upgrades, is about 25-30k

I suggest an upgrade will be a good start. If I were you I’d upgrade to:

- AMD Ryzen 3600 (CPU)
- MSI MPG B550 Gaming Plus (MB)
- G.Skill Trident Z Neo 2x8GB DDR4 3200Mhz (RAM)
- Hikvision E2000 512GB M.2 NVMe (SSD)

Like the list is somewhat budget friendly. Hopefully one of the resellers here can assist you on choosing the parts according to your budget.

If budget is not an issue then go with a new PC. Not sure if you can assemble a PC since you mentioned not being tech savvy but some resellers here can assemble a PC for you before they ship it which will save you some hassles.

Thank you for the heads up and insight!

if you are really not that clued up, then a SSD will be like having a new pc. Then when it gets slow again or whatever in the future only upgrade it all then :)

Edit: maybe some more ram which you can find here on Carb for cheeepppp

Buy a new monitor, you'll get a visual enhancement and stash your money now.
Your pc is presentable to play a shitløad of games.
