New Game station build for my boy

... so mother nature seems to be getting back at daddy... for making his parents life hell.
My boy have just a bit of ADHD... like semi off the chart, but with it comes a highly intelligent boy.
While his sister loves her iPad and drawing etc, he likes to sit on mommy's old computer and play games.

Decided i'm going to build him a game station/surprise.

So far I've gotten:

Next up is either Intel I7 13700 or
GPU: GTX3070 or GTX3080
I've even told to go for a 2nd hand 3080 vs new 3070...
Not sure how I feel about pre owned...
also thinking Black Friday is on the way, sure I might pick up special then.
instead of one of the big brands like MSI, Gigabyte etc... was thinking ... Palit... same cards as the big names, just a sh$t load cheaper..

but I also do like... been advise to try and keep case/Cooling all the same vendor, makes things easier, but then we also know allot of these are generic...

Screen, looking at 27", and thats as far as I've gotten.
I have 2 smaller screens atm, that i will fit either side of the main screen.

I have 2 additional 2TB HDD's that I will fit as bulk storage.
The theme is to be white, will wanna some white cabling.

What kinda interests does your guy have? Guess I'm lucky that Fortnite, Roblox and Minecraft aren't intense and YouTube runs on anything... and yes he wants to be a streamer one day like a good few kids with ADHD.

For context...how old is the little man?

he's 8, his sister thats also taken a liking to the computer is 10, 11 in 3 weeks.

I will quietly be abusing some of that Intel chip when they not using the system for some guest VM's.

Ive come across a very good deal on a Palit 3080, which I think would be way over what he needs now, but will be what he needs in a year/2... if at all that long.

so far, he's crazy about a game called Spore.
But he 's starting to show me clips from games/adds and I can see the writing on the wall.

Spore can run on a potato.

What you're suggesting is a pretty high end system.

If I were you, I'd save a buck and get an older system with a 1070 or 1080ti.
It'll more than serve his needs for years to come.

My kids are pre teens now and it's all about fortnite, minecraft, spore, fall guys, rocket league and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

They actually play all of the above (barring spore) on their switches as their preferred way to play.

When they start getting more interested in more demanding titles, I'll relook the investment into higher end pc's

ye, I'm aware this is pretty big end over kill.

The machine it is replacing was a similar serious overkill 10yrs ago. Which left us all happy with it for many years, but it's now need to be replaced.

This isn't happening for the high end parts, unlike the usa high end anything seldom gets any meaningful discounts in sa. Might be a lucky surprise for one or two items (especially combo items), but don't bank on this.

think I got t be honest with myself, what you say is true, and actually not even low end parts get USA like meaningful discount.

Anyhow, picked up a pre owned Palit 3080 at a good price, it will be overkill for his usage for a while, but it's a nice balance in the larger system. making my way slowly through the BOM.
