I'm looking for some help setting up a miner. downloaded the lightcoin wallet and its updating. Now im trying to figure out the correct commands for the cgminer to get up and running. Also not sure what pool to join so any advice there would be appreciated.

I have done some CLI stuff before but don't want to mess this up and something strange happens :p

Apologies to OP for trolling on your thread but didn't wana create a new one as I might just get some answers in here that I'm looking for...

Also thinking of giving mining a try just for the heck of it really and see what's what... I've got 2 x R9 280x's running in crossfire for gaming but would like to try my hand at mining ...?

Yeah, but disable crossfire for mining

I know you are "supposed" to disable crossfire for mining, but it was too much hassle to switch it on and off when I wanted to play a game on my gaming/ mining rig, so I tried mining with crossfire enabled and it seemed to make no difference.
I am mining with 2x HD6950 o/c to 6970 spec and happily playing BF4 on ultra in crossfire or mining at 830Kh/s with the crossfire link attached and crossfire set to on in the AMD gaming settings.

So ive got this in my startup.bat obviously with my own user/pass combo:
cgminer.exe --scrypt -o stratum+tcp://eu.ltcrabbit.com:3333 -u "user/worker" -p "pass" -w 256 -g 2 --auto-fan --thread-concurrency 18944 --intensity 13 (-I 20)<--- apparantly this is all i needed to add for my specific gpu.can someone confirm just for safety sake? :p

I've got the wallet setup and thats about it. Not sure what to put into the config file or what else i need to do and cg miner is telling me failed to init gpu(so probably the lack of a conf file in the roaming folder)

GPU is 1x r9 290 on stock

also...ltcrabbit....good choice? since i see they only charge 2% and they payper transaction or whatever its called

No apologies neccissary. thats why i created a generic thread name...so others can also get help

Try changing --intensity 13 (-I 20)
to
--intensity 13
and see what it does

I have had good success with litecoinpool.org, but for me it's more about reliability rather than the commission charged.
I pay higher commission here, but the pool is almost never down.

Alien that is a very odd config for a 290. What hash and wu are you getting?

Also, you either use a startup.bat file or a config file in the cgminer folder, not both, so in your case, delete the config file from the cgminer folder.

Thanks ill give it a go. Im guessing they are the same thing so i just repeated it.lol

Apparantly they have had no downtime in a few months and not going to be doing it 24/7 so not too stressed

havnt got it running yet.lol. failed to init gpu

didnt know there was already a config file. the startup.bat is in the cgminer folder. and the litecoin.conf is just an empty file I created in the roaming folder after i failed to get it working earlier...should i delete it?

Nope. Don't delete the file in the roaming folder. That is part of your wallet.
Delete any .bin files in the cgminer folder and delete the config file in the cgminer folder (cgminer.conf), then run the .bat file and let me know what happens.
Hopefully you will start mining and then I can help you tweak the cgminer settings for top hash rate.

Update when you get it running. From what I've read 2 threads are mostly for the 280x and 1 for the 290. But see what hash rate your getting as well as hw errors rejects and wu. I get around 905 hash, 820 wu and 0 hw errors, but my command line looks quite different. Will see tonight what those settings give me to compare

gox1201 Ok i am up and running thanks to stevenwiner now i somehow need to get my intensity over 13 without getting huge amounts of errors.any advice?

update. after increasing concurrency to concurrency to: 34816. i was able to get intensity up to 20(not sure if this was because i increased the concurrency first) with a hash rate of ~820. no hw errors. and wu is around 760

I have 6x 280x's running and each/all of them are giving me 700KH/S on the following settings: -w 256 -v 1 -I 13 -g 2 -l 1 --thread-concurrency 8192. I set the -g (thread count) to 1 if the cards start running to hot but then you are only going to hit the 550KH/s mark.

Be sure to undervolt them - I have a mix of cards (mainly MSI) and the best voltage on all of them is 1.050. You can set it in the config with the command --gpu-vddc but I manage mine with MSI afterburner. Its not necessary but I like the historical graph reporting it gives on my temps and gpu usage.

Alien nice 820 isn't bad at all.

Try set your core clock to 1000mhz, after having mined for 10mins, and see if its stable.

If not, reboot, try 975

If not, reboot and try 947.

For your memory use either 1500, 1375, or 1250.

Best settings: 1000 core / 1500 memory

But few cards will reach that out of the box.

Try for 1000/1250 and see if it stalls out or not.

got to 905kh/s with 1075/1500 and a couple extra settings but seems to be crashing. I is 20.concurreny is around 34000 or something.myt be a voltage issue

so will sort that out tonight and probably move over to DogeCoin.Does anyone know anything about Doge?

1075/1500 for 950khs

Will post my -I and -TC when I get home.

Using MSI AB powerlimit is set to 50
VDDC -25
Aux Voltage -35

MSI Reference r9 290

I got Elpida ram so I can't flash to 290x :(

i cant flash mine either.meh oh well. my vddc is sitting around 19(was 15 but knew that was crashing). where did you set aux voltage and what is that?

For some reason that's what MSI call's Mem-voltage (On the 290's anyway), monitoring with HW-Monitor thats the only setting directly effecting Mem-voltage.

Next to VDDC is a little down arrow on MSI afterburner, click on that.

didnt know they had seperate voltage control to core. looking for the setting on my laptop(although i dont think i can change voltage on here since core voltage in greyed out) but i cant find the down arrow. am i right in saying that vddc is the same as core voltage on msi ab? if so then it should be easy enough to check for when i get home

Hey pXius, mind sharing your settings with me, as I have the same card as yours, and my hashrate is sitting comfortably at 840, temps just a tad over 80c...would like to get above 900 hashrate without breaking the card...I've played around with some of the core/mem settings but I only got up as far as 880...then either cgminer stops working, or my AMD drivers crash...not really sure how to fix this...
