Hi

So first of all i know nothing about audio or very little so please be kind/patient because i'm probably making all kind of mistakes and will ask a lot of stupid questions.

Ok so i have my pc hooked up to my tv and i just yesterday connected my dvd system which was packed away in storage for years, the computer is connected to the tv via hdmi and the tv to the dvd system via hdmi (arc) and an optical cable

i switch on the dvd and played a dvd and awesome it all sounds amazing, well to me at least :) its a very basic samsung dvd 5.1 system - so happy with that.\
The i tested it on the pc which plays of the tv, i made sure to chose external speakers on the tv settings and well yes it works! but i noticed it didnt sound as great as playing of the dvd directly ? dont get me wrong the sound of the pc/tv is definitely improved but just not as punchy as when playing directly from the dvd. (i just played a random tv show and movie from one of my drives)

is there anything else i can do to make the sound better when playing off the pc to tv ? my dvd system is quite old so only has one hdmi and one optical input - besides the optical cable is short so wont reach the pc in any case so is there some setting or something i'm missing ?

PC mobo is b450 f gaming, tv is an old LG (47LA6210) and dvd system is an old samsung HT-F453K 5.1 system

side note: i am upgrading the tv soon and the new one will have hdmi 2.1 although i doubt that will make a difference because my dvd player is still old :D
no plans to upgrade the dvd system as yet maybe in future but i just want to use what i have for now

ok all sorted, for any amateurs like me trying to figure out something similar - i right clicked on the speaker icon and set it to 5.1 then went into advanced settings and changed the frequency to 190000 or something like that, seems to have done the trick :D
