Setting up ISCSI ubuntu 20.04

Need help setting up ISCSI on ubuntu 20.04 LTS desktop experiance.

in windows it was simple.
1. start ISCSI initiator service.
2. discover portal via Ip.

I've spent about 2+ hours trying to do this last night, reading different tutorials etc.

I've installed the open-iscsi service.
I've setup my initiatorname.iscsi file
I should need to do anything with iscsid.conf as the ISCSI need authentication.

but when I try to connect to the iscsi target it says there is no route to host.

any help would be appreciated.
