So I am setting up a Proxmox server to host 2 VM's.
One for IPFire which requires 2 nics allocated to it (green/red)
And the other for a file server with some other bits and bobs tacked on.
I have a online nic which proxmox host is using as well as a 4port nic slotted in to the pc.
Have created bridges for each of the 3 ports of the 4port nic I want to use, but when I am setting up IPFire and trying to allocate red/green nics, nothing happens on the actual nics.
Anyone got any idea of how to either dedicate a specific port or ports of the 4 port nic to the VM, or perhaps some insight into if I have set the bridge up wrong?
The end result has to be that IPFire (Firewall) acts as DCHP for both Proxmox host and storage vm, as well as the rest of the devices on the network.
Initially I had IPFire running perfectly when it was installed as the main OS rather than on a VM, but there are some things I wanted to do with it that it couldn't handle, hence the need for a 2nd vm instead.
Nic bridge setup as follows (only IP currently assigned is to the onboard nic that Proxmox host is using so I can access it)
