First came the SketchUp design, and really got excited to have a new project.

So today begun Day one of my build and feel like I got a lot done. Got the main wood piece as a off cut from builders and R80 for the beams for the side. They also has a sheet of Perspex and while not super expensive just went for it

Begun will making all the right lines on the wood

Next cut up all the Perspex to the shapes, ended up using a jigsaw with a wood blade, but ended up been awesome. Just had to be careful.

Next I used the power sander and grinded down all the edges 45 degrees by hand, that was fun but ended up very nicely.

Makes a big mess

Next up came figuring the graphics card mount. Ended up working nicely, the only possible issue I can see is not enough airflow underneath the card, time will tell.

So things still need to do:

Cut outs for cables&LEDs
Carbon fiber wrap
Mount up all parts
Mount side beams

Will post second update this weekend hopefully.

Thoughts, opinions please share

Are you going to bevel and flame polish the plexiglas edges?

What you mean bevel ? Already got them to 45 but yeah need to flame polish, just don't have access to a blow torch

Any advice ?

I would rather keep the plexi sanded because it will help diffuse the LED better, but that's just me

will be interesting to see how you plan on fastening the GPU (other parts more or less have holes for mounting in that position)

This was by far the hardest part as didn't want to do screws through my card even if there were open ones.

We found a way to securely mount the PCIe plug on the extender and the card rests in that, the 2x 8pin extenders I'm installing will be the final holder to keep the card flat. Did tests yesterday and holds the card in even if horizontal face down.

Why don't you cut it out from an old case, paint it and cut the profile into the would, little bit of glue (that paste that you mix to fix basins to wall) and you good. Got the name it's epidermix 372, you can get at builders.

I was looking at doing that but does break the look of the case :) you'll see come Sunday (hopefully) everything but the LEDs will be done by than and should look sick.

No update, didn't get a chance to do any shopping this weekend. Spending this week getting the last items off the list and this hopefully this weekend will finish this.

Its crazy as if I grabbed everything day it would be built which is pretty good for a scratch build

Looking good so far will be watching for the next update and finished product.

curious when you mentioned you used a wood blade to cut perspex

pic of blade?

Will do, We did a bit of cutting on a side piece to see if it would crack and made it. there were one or two places not the best but the power sander sorted that out quickly.

Any chance you'll be adding a second GPU to the build?

na likely, this build this only going to used till October when I'm moving over to New Zealand, than the system goes back into the 400c and I'll sell this for nice and cheap. And in the next couple months I won't be going SLi

UPDATE:

So got the Wrap for the top, unfortunately looks like my cables+lights will only get to me around tuesday/wednesday.

This weekend going to do all the hole cutout and begin mounting parts. Came up with a better way to mount the psu so need to built that this weekend as well.

everything goes to plans it'll be finished nice and soon !

Update:

So collected the lights and cables on the weekend. Was working on it on Sunday unfortunately not many pics, have given the case off to the Girlfriends brother after having a look at his setup its been a disaster. we going to finish building it in his school holidays in like two weeks or so.
