Hola hola
Please help this dumbass
I got a tiny PC, Dell optiplex 3000,
Upon arrival one DP port has no display and the other one the resolution was stuck on a low resolution.bI was told a windows update would fix this.
I did all the windows updates and now I have the following problem:
The one DP port still has no display, the other one only has display when I boot up the pc, it shows the Dell logo and nothing afterwards.
I have changed the DP cables and tried it on a monitor and tv and still the same thing
What should I do now? I have no clue 😆 please help this dumbass 🙏
*Edit I can go into bios at bootup...just not sure what to do from there

If there isn't any valuable data on the PC yet , it may be helpful to try and reinstall windows and start over .

stuck on low resolution could mean drivers are missing forcing windows to use a generic

Ive done a fresh installation, all goes well until I update windows and then same happens again

Hey bud I had similar problems some of the optiplex was displaying fine but as soos as windows loads it basically stops displaying. I ended up using different monitor and it worked. But 2 of tested ones didn't want to display in windows. Without the drivers mine was working as a fresh install. But as soon as driver downloads no display in windows itself.

Sounds driver related. I know windows loves to install it's own stuff which isn't always the best. Is this one of those mini PCs? Does Dell maybe have a video driver you can download and test with a fresh install?

I had the opposite with my 6600 XT. It wouldn't display at POST, only once I. Windows. That turned out to be an issue with how the mobo was setup so once I changed settings it was fine.

No hdmi port?

If it does have, use the hdmi port to get into the pc. Then download the display drivers from the service page of the specific dell

No HDMI only 2 DP ports

Yea it's one of those mini PCs
I'll have to do a fresh installation again as I only can into bios now

Spitball:

Ask someone to test CPU in another board+ram with only iGPU.
Check for bent pins.
Try other RAM (if you can).

Aren't these these CPUs soldered to the main board?

Have you tried Dell’s on line diagnostics and drivers updates?

The older Lenovo's are not. Not sure about the Dells. If the CPU is a T-variant, it is likely a socket.

EDIT: are you up here or at the coast?

Close to the coast , Pietermaritzburg

What type of power supply does it use .

Cause

This is working as designed. The Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI) Graphics Output Protocol (GOP) requires the monitor to get the Extended Display Identification Data (EDID) data first. Once the data is received, it will output video to the monitor.

Resolution

It is expected behavior where the design of hot plug detection follows the UEFI GOP and DP standard.
The workaround for this behavior is to power on the monitor first and then power on the system to ensure that the monitor can be detected.

I've done diagnostics in bios and all green checks. Going out now so I'll try reinstalling windows again and download updates via

Yea I've done that. The Dell logo appears when I boot it up and loses signal straight after
There is also display when I go into bios when I boot up

If that doesn't work you can also try downloading graphics drivers straight from Intel's website (assuming you're using an Intel CPU with iGPU).

@Valheru @8med @cdmnuy and everyone else that helped..thanks very much

Went through every possible avenue in regards to software

I tried one last time this morning
I removed a Ram stick and low an behold it works.
So either the extra ram stick I bought is faulty or the ram slot is

Not sure which one

Sounds like might be a bent pin issue. How's the CPU socket looking?
