Howdy,

So i have been using Avast the free edition for last couple of years, and have tried a few various other ones, like Nortons, Bitdefender many moons ago,

I had a look online and most sites now recommend Bitdefender as their number 1 go to, and then Norton second,

What is everyone using nowadays for their personnel pcs ?

I dont mind yearly subscriptions knowing i am getting more value than a free service ( if that is the case )

Cheers

I am personally using Kaspersky on all my machines. Would have taken NOD, but the purchasing experience was kak so I gace up.

I've been using ESET on every machine in my house since before I even had my own PC. Haven't had any issues with it. Currently downscaled to the basic one now due to the additional machines but it's still a pretty decent offering and hasn't been to resource heavy, even on a Celeron G3930 with 4GB RAM.

Windows Defender is fine. Pair it with occasional scans with Malwarebytes and you should be good to go
I second this. Amazing to see how Malwarebytes (free) digs out the nasty Avast missed. To follow ESET and Kaspersky. Rest is not worth it as they tend to slow down your system drastically.

Bitdefender has blocked plenty threats haven't had issues for 3 years now

Webroot, been using it on my 3 pc's including my server with no hassles whatsoever. It is also very light on resources.
