Plex 4k files to 1080p output without transcoding.

So I have read a few posts on the Plex forums regarding this but didn't get a definitive answer.

My setup:
Plex server on Unraid
Nvidia Shield 2019 client input to 4k compatible AVR
Output from AVR to 1080p Projector (projector planned, currently using uhd tv)

Will I be able to direct play the 4k files, although the projector would only display 1080p, without a massive transcoding server side?

The HDMI source should be able to negotiate the resolution:
