Howzit gents.

I've got a bit of a weird one on my hands, so figured I'd pose it to the collective Carbonite hive mind in hope of a solution / workaround.

I've got a client that bought a Spectre X360 13, with 4K display from me recently.. He runs it on external 1080p 23" screens at home and the office for 90% of its usage.

Now, the Windows 10 scaling issue, is raising its head - when switching between the laptop display, and an external display + closing the notebook for desktop use, unoptimized 3rd party apps flake out with big windows and text...

Now, we all know that the solution is, logging out of Windows and logging back in - then everything is force-scaled correctly to the output resolution....

However..... my client, being his somewhat eccentric and fussy self, does not see this as a solution, as he insists on leaving open browsers with 20+ tabs, several Excel sheets and his 3rd party applications at all times, and simply putting the machine to sleep, then waking it up and resuming working..... Neither is he willing to consider the expense of 4K displays at home and the office.

My question.... is there an application or some kind of script that can force a resolution + scaling refresh, without necessitating logging out of Windows?

Thanks in advance!

Are you taking about the blurry DPI issues or text and window resizing?

I have the same problem. To be honest the easiest was to just run the laptop at 1080.

My main issue has been any tooltips end up ridiculously large or ridiculously small. Doesn't really make it unusable but it's kinda annoying. The occasional app is a bit flaky about different res/dpi etc.

There's also no way I'm logging out and back in etc.
Hardware is XPS15 and 2 * 1920x1200 Dell Ultrasharp monitors.

Text and window resizing when hot-switching resolution - particularly in 3rd party applications - windows and text scale monstrously huge until you restart / log out + back in.

The blurry DPI issue is simply a matter of finding the most widely suitable scaling option for a given resolution.

Would he consider launching a game a resolution? :p
Any full-screen render application taking over the renderer counts as a refresh as far as I know. It's just that the only way to do this outside of launching a game is to log-out/restart.

Perhaps merely changing the resolution once and then changing it back could also work but I don't know.

Does the laptop have a screen switch button? Maybe using that would not even activate the bug in the first place as opposed to simply closing it.

Very interested in potential solutions, have the exact same thing for my work laptop...
