What this device does is allows you to use full UHD with HDR on your TV and full audio bitstream to your AVR even if you have an older AVR (e.g. HDMI 1.4 AVR). It's not the same as an off the shelf splitter because that will still default to the lowest common denominator, so you can have UHD but no DTS-MA or TrueHD audio, or you can have the audio but signal to to TV will revert to 1080p. This device allows you to use an older AVR with the newest standard TV. Please check their website for details, instructions as well as the caveat - you *must* use high quality 18 gbps HDMI cables otherwise you won't get HDR. I use mine at home with an older NAD receiver and a new LG UHD TV and it works almost perfectly. Occasionally, and only when my nVidia shield switches modes (i.e. resolution or refresh) I need to switch my receiver on and off again due to the screen not getting a proper signal (purple screen flashes). Basically it losed HDMI handshake, but that can happen even on other devices.

As I said the condition is new but it rattles slightly when you move it, the supplier believes it is due to a led being loose. They sent me a replacement unit and hence I have this one just lying around. As mentioned I'll refund you if it doesn't work (HDMI handshakes can be tricky) and you do need to use 18 Gbps cables if you want HDR signal. I have no trades score (unless I get some feedback for a current sale) but I'm sure many remember me from the old Prophecy forums so might be able to vouch.
