so used CPU Core Parker - and set the CPU to Max Turbo boost as it's main default clock speed and made sure all 4 cores we're utilized and this was the result in the gaming ... Same settings , everything ..

Completely maxed out RAM.

Do the test at 1280x720 now

There's not much different here ... Between the 2600k and 8700k... I don't understand what's up with my system

I found a 16gb kit for R1800... I really don't know if I should pull the trigger .. consider DDR4 3000mhz ram is like R2400

I can only speak from my own perspective and I'm generally still pretty happy with my 4770 setup. Mostly I'm pleasantly surprised with the performance I'm getting especially since I switched to 1440P a few months ago. Though there are now one or two games where I can see my CPU is being put through the wringer but that may be more their copy protection than the game itself being overly demanding.

There probably is a bottleneck, and we are probably both giving up 2-3, maybe even 5-6 frames to some games with our older chips. But honestly unless things drastically change I think I can still go on like this for a few years. I also feel that even if threw all my money at the latest and greatest currently out there it wouldn't offer me a significant enough difference to my current chip in terms of longevity. We are still sitting at in the 3Ghz stock range even if there have been a lot of IPC improvements in later generations.

But that's me. I can't give that advice to someone else because it may be wrong.
And 1800 is a significant chunk of a Carb facilitated platform upgrade if that is what's needed.

What I can tell you though is that your performance right now will absolutely improve with more RAM, what the right decision is in terms of the future though....who knows.

Thanks mate, I will keep a look out... U think 16gb at 1600mhz will make a difference... Coz that's the max the board supports ?

It absolutely will. How much longer it will let you keep the system before a complete platform upgrade becomes necessary I can't say though.

Howsit... Just watched a video... With the 3770 and a 1070 with 8gb and 16gb... It only solved the micro stutter but he says that the CPU is still the bottleneck.... And the fps difference is like 10fps

I get 17% on that bottleneck website :(

Having said that I run my 4770k at around 4.2ghz on my 34" 144hz 1080p on ultra in bf5 and I run into instances where I get low 50s.

On ultra it's very rare to be over 100 it sits around 70 too 80 and then drops down.

If I set everything to high it sits 90s

Would changing the screen help. Meaning From 1080p to 1440p. Thus the gpu would be using more than the CPU, so the CPU wouldn't be bottlenecking as much?

Yo bud. I have an I7 3770 with 1070. I can sence a bit of bottleneck when I play but majority of the time my CPU provides enough power. A 1080 TI with this CPU is a bottleneck without a doubt I saw the first imagine you posted of BF your CPU was around 33** MHZ meaning it is not even turbo up to 3.6 or 3.9 MHZ I would just check this setting in power options

But that is just my 5c oh and 8gb of ram is Min amount needed upgrade to 16. BF 1 takes about 11 gb when I last played so BF 5 won't be that much different.

Howsit man, Thanks for help... I have core parked the CPU to that its in turbo state all the time and this improved FPS to about 80fps+-from a 60 to 70fps... and this stops the micro-stutters....I have put the power settings into high performance as well... and have had no change in FPS. I am looking at swapping my 34 inch for a 2k screen.. or just waiting it out till next year to do some upgrades once Intel decides to be good guys again.

couldn't this be like what @Toxxyc is also experiencing in terms of 'new tech with old tech'?

know someone from whom you can borrow an extra 8gigs?

Doubt it. Once my card is booted up, it's 100s. No issues in games whatsoever.

I remember in bf1

When I only had 8 gigs ddr3 ram running on my 1080ti the game would be so slow and literally windows shows almost 100% usage.

It was horrible.

Soon as I added that extra 8 gigs it was like butter smooth. So ram made a huge improvement in that regard for me

What CPU were you using ??

I have attached a screenshot of the monitoring software I use and you can see the that the GPU is only at 38% utilization.....

Whoops? - If this has already been mentioned.

But what program is this, that you're using to monitor your PC?

Why not just type in the command line in game

Perfoverlay.drawfps 1

It will show your fps there?

I find those apps in certain games can cause memory usage quite high if left on too long

I have a second screen for my apps like show me gpu usage and temps and CPU load and that.

the FPS stays the same whether it is on Ultra on Low

Following this entire thread and having had an 3770 with a 980ti, BF5 played very nicely and I had no problems at all. I was running two sticks of 8gb DDR3 1600.

It’s your RAM limit, not your CPU. BF5 runs well only pretty much any CPU.

The only reason why your CPU is running so high is because it’s trying to push and pull data from your drive to your RAM whilst being limited. It has to work harder to cache the data to the page file and that’s whats also slowing your system down.

If you were to buy more RAM, I’d suggest just getting an entirely new rig unless you can get some DDR3 on the cheap. I got my 2 sticks at R400, each.

The biggest expense of new systems is the RAM and CPU. You already have a 1080ti.

Get 16gigs of 3200CL14 Samsung B die and pair it with an AMD 2600.
