Phones for parents, plis halp

Morning all

So I've been roped in to assist with buying / deciding on new phones for the parents.......
They don't have any explicit requirements as long as it phones and takes pictures and is just all round decent, max budget 5k

I'm an Apple knob so I've no clue about other brands obviously.
They have Huawei at the moment but wan't to move away from the brand, they were looking at Samsung A53.

Is this a good option? Any other brands / models to consider?

I would personally look at the Xiaomi Redmi range. Since 2017 I have been using Xiaomi / Poco phones and they have been excellent, and unbeatable in terms of value for money.

yea no don't want to overthink this so gonna suggest the A53 and have a look at the Poco range as well

The Redmi series is great just be careful of the Xiaomi Redmi 10, Bought two of them, and the power button/fingerprint scanner just stopped working.

Eish... that sucks.

My Redmi 10 Pro is almost 2 years old with 0 issues. So maybe it's specific to the non-Pro model at least. I'm planning on keeping it for another year or two.
