Bit of a strange one that am battling to resolve.

Seems PC has an intermittent issue on start-up. Sometimes it boots no issue. At other times the machine powers up, but does not post to BIOS or boot into Windows.

CPU and case fan run, but nothing else happens. No posting to BIOS, no error beeps from mainboard, nada.

Have tried removing graphics card and using only mainboard display HDMI port, tried with different RAM. Nothing. Power light comes on on case, and then goes off but fans keep running. When the machine boots, it runs perfectly with no issues.

Any ideas as to what could be causing the problem?

what cpu
what ram

CPU: Intel i7-4770K
Mainboard: MSi Z87-G43
Ram: Corsair Vengeance 8GB 1600MHz
PSU: EVGA Supernova 850 B2 80+ Bronze
GPU: MSi GeForce GTX 1050Ti 4G OC

Did not think about the CMOS battery being the issue as they generally just die.

That's a golden oldie you got right there.

My board was having the exact same issue, it would sort of get stuck in sleep. Changed the CMOS and it was all fine.
If you unplugged your pc from the wall overnight does it start it properly the next day?

Does not seem to be the issue. Changed the CMOS battery to a new unit, but it still will not post or boot up 😟

Can you try leaving it unplugged for the whole night?

Will try that, but not sure how it will resolve the issue
My guess, if it's not starting up sometimes it's getting stuck in sleep state.
Leaving it unplugged allows everything to clear out of the bios.
Also leave the CMOS out, if you do try this.

Edit, 30 mins and more yeah? But at least 30mins?
