NVIDIA RTX 40 series thread

Jis guys if that amd is for example only 15% slower than the 4090 I may very well buy one immediately. I mean no burning plug issue, no need to upgrade chassis.. could be a very smooth upgrade for me
I`m in the same camp. I`m not willing to take a chance on this connector. There is clearly something up with this spec from a design perspective.

are we seeing some rtx 4080 benches today at 4?

What fantastic performance from the RTX 4080. But the worst price imaginable.
For the 1st time I'll be voluntarily going AMD, 7900XTX can be brought in for R22K incl duties & shipping. Sucks in RT games (Seems to be between 3070 Ti and 3080 10GB level)but with FSR 2.1/2.2 and FSR 3.0 coming this isn't much of an issue at all.
Well done to NVIDIA on the tech, shame on them for the price. IMHO $400 ~ $500 over what it should be.

100%. It's a $899 card at best but if should've been $699 to $799 like the 3080 (if the shortage boom never happened lol).

I got the tuf 3080 at launch for R19.5k. I would order a 4080 right now for that same price if I could

If you look at the sliders on Wootware, Palit 4080 starts at R29k lol.

For me it would make more sense to just buy a 4090, more performance gain for your money

Im getting my predictions in.

I think the 7900XTX is going to be R26k at Wootware.

Performance 5% less than the 4090 at 1440p, but just on par with the 4080 at 4K.

NVIDIA will push DLSS 3.0 in games and try make up sales with a cheaper higher clocked 4070.

4080 is terrible value , as a long standing green team supporter Im very dissapointed , 7900XTX this gen is where its at price/performance.

Definitely in line for local pricing, but as Gouhan said it can be imported for around R22-23k (and not for a palit)

Since I'm only aiming to change the gpu in Feb or March I'm sure I will be able to find some nice deals on Amazon by then. But I will check local first!

During the first 3 months you won't be able to use Amazon though, they only get proper pricing well after launch.

Agreed. Had a card from every generation of Nvidia since my GTX 670 and this is the first time I'm weighing up getting an AMD card or not getting a card at all - as my GPU is more than adequate for the games I play.

Pricing is crazy. I haven't watched any 4080 coverage but from what I understand, you either get a 4090 or get a 3090Ti. My only issue with a 4090, and this is something @adamr mentioned previously. To get a 4090, you'd possibly need to get a bigger chassis, you'd ideally get a 1000w+ ATX 3.0 power supply and then get a proper power adapter from Corsair/Cablemod, which I'm sure won't be cheap. All that - to get a 4090. You're looking at R10K ontop of whatever 4090 you want. Pricing aside, you'll have a card/4090 which has multiple reports of burnt connector issues - yikes.
