Hi all,

I just wanted to give you all some advice with regard to the Nothing Phone (1). I've had two incidents with these devices in the last short while with regard to Software Failures & Bricking. One of them literally dropped their Nothing Phone (1) on the carpet & when he picked it up it was randomly Bricked. I had my hands on one today in actual fact.

If you are going to purchase this device, the first thing you need to do is Enable Developer Options, then enable OEM Unlock & USB Debugging in Developer Options. I advise this generally no matter what device it is but with the Nothing Phone (1) it is particularly important to do this.

These devices seem to be extremely prone to Software Failures & Bricking, largely due to the Software/OS being extremely new (Nothing OS). By enabling these settings, you allow the device's Bootloader to be Unlocked & Flashed via Fastboot if anything goes wrong. If you do not do this, the device will likely be permanently Bricked if anything goes wrong - which does not seem to be uncommon.

As a general piece of advice, I'd stay away from these devices as their specs are generally not great for their price - particularly their Camera & lack of some basic Features - & there are many better alternatives to purchase at this price point but if you are determined to get one, please follow the above instructions.

Just my friendly piece of advice to alleviate any problems for you in the future - stay strong everyone ✌️

The first gen is mainly dealt with the most amount of issues and the company will eventually patch each of the issues up as the people report the errors experienced with the phone.

Best Buy: 3rd Gen+ <Safest>

I suggest most people should not take my advice as the company would go bankrupt and not even reach 3rd Gen. *Evil Laugh*

If we were referring to a very low-end, budget device - maybe this would be more acceptable. I would never advocate for people not to buy a tech product/device unless I believe it to possibly be to their detriment. Also, I'm 100% not in the business of keeping Companies afloat - I'm simply honest about my findings with the hundreds of devices I work with on a monthly basis. I pride myself in being a specialist in the field that assists people wherever possible. That definitely doesn't occur by helping companies rip people off or exploit their customers - 1st Gen or 100th Gen.

In 2022, a Company that makes the conscious decision to release a "High-End", non-budget device cannot allow for severe issues such as the ones I've recently encountered with the Nothing Phone (1). Not to mention, when you release a device of this sort/calibre - it's imperative that you ensure that at the very least, the Software doesn't allow for Bricks Left Right & Centre when there's so little Technical Support. Their OS is based on Android - no excuse for instability of this level here - we are not talking minor issues & little bugs.

Not to mention the technicalities behind this which I won't go into but there's a lot wrong with the implementation of their Software & Repair Capabilities. For instance, the main bug/issue I experienced yesterday is literally identical to one particular issue faced by the Google Pixel 2 a few years ago - which has already been rectified/patched years back.

If the correct research was done prior to launch, this wouldn't have inconvenienced & cost so many Nothing Phone (1) customers, which is what kills me & would be wrong of me not to try prevent as much as possible 👍

it was only Samsungs though. All Other brands were fine

I recently took my iPhone 11 Pro into the Apple Store for a trade in, it passed every test except wireless charging so they offered me a ridiculous trade in.

Moved onto my new device, two weeks later noticed that the iPhones battery had expanded out the case and push the screen up. Managed to have the battery replaced and fortunately the screen or any other internals were not damaged, its still in use daily as a second device.
