Need buying advice: bmw f30 335i

So what is your budget ? Coz any N55 under R300k.... U asking for trouble ..
My budget is around 250k
actually i had a friend who was going to sell me his 335i with a 112k km’s on it with a fsh and he did every preventative maintenance for 240k and it didnt give him problems at all but yet again ive been reading alot of forums and seeing what my options are
Is there anything else that you would say it worth looking at?

This is exactly why i asked on this forum some people are saying theyre lemons but some are saying that they absolutely problem free
I wanted to buy one back in 2016 and was worried about everyone saying it's so bad on maintenance. Ended up buying a S3 and guess what? Broke a ringland anyways.

Any second hand car can be unreliable, If you can't afford 20-30k repair bills then definitely avoid the petrol engines rather. The diesels seem to be alot cheaper to run. On the 320D the harmonic balancer is just a issue but theyre R8k from bmw and should last years.

Maybe tell us your budget?

I definitely dont think id be able to afford a 20-30k bill which was exactly my thought process behind it and i decided to see other options
My budget is around 200-250k
Is there any car you would say thats definitely worth checking out?

Fiesta ST probably as you can have good ones in that price range.

Mk7 GTI is nice but they won't be as new and can also rack up maintenance costs.

I doubt there's anything "fun" that can be had with warranty for that money.

To be honest i really dont like the fiestas and how they look
I wouldnt mind a mk7 gti but everyone and their mothers has one and they’re often extremely abused and can be lemons for the price range im looking for and besides im more in the market for something rwd
Warranty isn’t necessarily a huge issue for me as the car dosent spend time in the shop 24/7

Probably look at a clean 330d or something, Or risk it and get a nice E series N55.

Wanna buy my E82 135 it's had all the preventive measures.

Honestly a Cupra TDI or Polo Tdi... Even the 1.8t Polo Vivo GTI.. lots of fun .. do a good suspension setup and wheels

The G7 gti not for you , probably pop a piston or mechatronics units will go in the first month.

What you actually need is IS350 or GS350, good luck trying to kill one fo those.

I owned GS350 2014 F-Sport for a while after my 320d, just keeps hammering without a days issue. GS350 came standard in SA, with the adaptive suspension, 12 inch navigation etc

I think i am gonna go with the 330d however
As tempting as that sounds a 2 door wont be feasible for me atm
However do you have pictures of it?
And how many mods have you done?

I was considering them but theres no point of having 2 polos and you’re better of finding waldo than you are finding a nice clean polo tdi

they are amazing cars no doubt but just hard to find the right spec

You need to decide if you want

-that model 335
-GT type car
-Weekend only ie short runs
-Maintenance costs to be cheap.

I see a Lexus two door for sale. Maintenance is low on these cars and it looks better inside. The BMW will handle better.

Thats is why i decided to ask on a forum to help shed some light and it did help
I think my final decision will be a e90 330d

Thank you everyone whose replied and helped me make a decision and gave me advice
I really appreciate it 👊🏼
After taking everything i need out of the car I decided to go with a e90 330d and now im going to begin my search soon for one
I will definitely come back and post pics of it when i find one

Nothing KW can't fix ...

Definitely but its a bit far for me to go check it out
Will need to be checked out underneath because Ndlambe municipality let PA fall apart. The roads it'll have driven on will mean a through check. @StangV2_0 can update on the state of EC roads nowadays.

You're planning on buying a touring machine, so this is the perfect opportunity to drive it back home and get used to the car :D

I flew 800 km to look at a car. If it were a dud, I'd pay the R1500 and fly back home. If not, I'm driving home with an amazing car. In my case, it was the latter.

If I wasn't buying a bakkie now, I'd be all over this BMW. It's the cleanest one you'll find, apart from "collector" type pieces costing you R150000 more than this one.

Just my 2c/food for thought.
