Sound advice given already. Only point I could add is to make sure your concentration levels are at 300%. When I used to ride to work daily (+- 20km single) I needed to really pay attention to all the hazards - guys changing lanes unexpectedly, pedestrians, potholes and all other kinds of k@k. The short 20 min ride in peak traffic was mentally draining to the point I would go home and crash just from the mental fatigue. Being in a cage is a lot less stressful, but never as enjoyable.
Always expect the unexpected and you will be ok. And always use ALL your gear ALL the time. Even if going down the road to the shop.
