So I don't really want to sell this unit (hence it being a feeler at the moment), but I have another laptop: http://carbonite.co.za/f47/15-6-msi-ge60-apache-pro-laptop-91621/ which I am trying to sell. Due to the time it takes to sell a laptop here I am advertising early so that two weeks from now if the other unit has not sold, I will sell this one.

I wanted to compare these two units and then decide which I liked more, here are my thoughts on this:

Screen: The GE60 has an IPS panel where the GS60 has a TN panel, but to be honest I see no difference at all, both are crisp and beautiful to work on and game on (yes I game on the 15" screens). Both are more than bright enough

Keyboard: They both have the same keyboard, however, the GS60 is aluminum between the keys while the GE60 is plastic. BUT the GE60's back lighting on the keys is much brighter than the GS60 and hence it just looks better. The GS60 also has smaller keys physically than the GE60, especially the number pad

Trackpad: They are pretty much the same, but the GS60's pad is a rougher texture than the GE60 (it does not hurt your finger or anything), not sure which I like more. But hey, who uses them in any case :p. Another thing to note here is that the trackpad on the GE60 sits a little higher up on the body than the GS60, this is a little better imo because it is not so close to the edge as on the GS60

Connectivity: This depends completely on what you like, both have an HDMI port and a multi card reader, the GE60 has a VGA port where the GS60 has a mini display port (I use neither). The difference however comes in the USB ports, the GE60 has 2 USB 2.0 and 2 USB 3.0, the GS60 has 3 USB 3.0 (I find the extra one on the GE60 is very nice to have). Finally, the GE60 has an internal DVD Drive where the GS60 has none

Battery Life: I have not really tested this to be honest, but it seems that the GE60 might be the winner here due to having the GTX 860M vs the GTX 870M

Performance: The GS60 comes out as the winner here, but the GTX 860M on the GE60 allows for quite a bit of overclocking (have not done this myself on the unit, just read some reviews) which puts it pretty much on par with the GS60

Weight: GS60 is slightly lighter, but not enough to actually make you feel it to be honest

Sound: They have the same speakers, so they are pretty much exactly the same

Design: This is the main reason I wanted to try out the GS60 after I had the GE60, the screen on the GS60 is a tad bit more solid due to the location of the two side hinges. Both units have brushed aluminum on the screen and on the top side of the body of the unit. The GS60 then has aluminum going all the way to the bottom of the unit, but the bottom cover feels like something else (not sure what it is, maybe a lighter aluminum or something). The GE60 however becomes plastic halfway down the bottom half of the body of the unit, at first I did not like it, but to be honest it does not burn as much as heated aluminium :p. Both units look damn great, the screens are not just flat on the back, they both have the same sexy curve lines, looks amazing. Imagine having the hood of a car without curves and then with, same thing here :)

The GE60 due to having the DVD drive is a little more bulky than the GS60 but I kinda like it, makes it feel more tough :). The GS60 is slightly wider than the GE60 but quite a bit deeper (front to back), due to the way they designed the screen and hinges, the GE60 integrated the screen hinge system into the body, the GS60 attaches onto the back of the body. So both units have the same amount of keyboard space but the screens physical size on the GS60 is larger so it has more plastic around the screen when opened, the GE60 looks a little more stylish in this regard (to me). The keyboard/trackpad area on the GS60 is a little more stylish than the GE60 due to having curves where the GE60 has none

Temperatures: The GS60 has two fans (one for the GPU and another for the CPU) where the GE60 has one for both. From what I can see the GS60 has cooler CPU temps (due to the dedicated fan) but the GE60 has cooler GPU temps (due to the 860M), I have not played around enough with the units to give any more info on this

Conclusion: I like both and that is why I am selling both and keeping the one that does not sell. Both have enough plus points to make it worth keeping. I know there are many reviews out there, this is just my personal opinion on the matter and hopefully it can help someone else decide between these two, as I struggled to.

If anyone wants to know anything else, let me know.

Thought this would be gone by now, trades are welcome if what you can trade has the same value as this. So if you want to trade something + cash, I am less keen on trading for something on it's own unless it is like a motorcycle :p
