We have another rb, the youngster from Scotland

yeah ramsey but as @Saaj said his been injured, think he played one cameo and thats it.
we really need to fix the TAA issue. look at the city game, those goals came from his mistakes yet again, and cause we have no backup we're forced to use him.

It's true, a new starting rb would be good. I'm still not opposed to having trent migrate into an attacking midfield role.
He's young enough to learn. I think we just need to not expect too much tracking back from him as we've all learnt happens very rarely

Not a popular opinion probably, but Klopp also needs to go.
Great manager but he has run his race.
Just too intense being under him for too long. Players look worn out and frankly so does he.
He needs a new challenge, and I don't see him being around for a full rebuild.

Also too stubborn to change his tactics. The players aren't up to it anymore and yet he still plays the same way.
Age, form, injuries mean they are a shadow of the team they were.
Opposing teams find it way to easy to figure us out.
Our midfield is shite and the root cause of most of our issues. None of them are in form or up to scratch.

All things go in cycles, but I feel we are a long way off getting back to anywhere near good enough.
Money talks and not enough at Liverpool to fix this.

With Cancelo out of Favour at City, would he not be worth a look as a RB option? Currently on loan at Bayern, but he has not been getting much game time there if I recall.
In terms of Midfielders, I would think maybe Kante could be worthwhile free option, and also being linked with Bellingham and Mount. Gavi is another option, I hope the club are monitoring his situation in La Liga - he could be snapped up at a bargain with Barca's current woes.
With Firmino leaving, we are going to need a decent option to cover that area as well. The biggest problem with this small squad is that last season was a long season - the team played every game that was available to them for the entire season...and you did not have a large enough squad to handle this rotation and manage this load. Its showing this season.

I have to agree with the tactics...you cant play the same system if you dont have the right players available. You have to adapt to what you have.
Fabinho's confidence looks shot...how many shooting opportunities he had against City and he decides to pass it instead of having a go. We also dont seem to be interested in taking shots from outside the area....something we need to mix up and add to our game, cant always expect to walk it in, because you then become predictable.

I have to disagree with the klopp decision. If you look at the likes of City, United, Chelsea and now Newcastle. They give full support and funding to the managers. FSG' business model has its advantages but can also backfire if it becomes the doctrine and you don't adapt.
Klopp has been fighting with 1 hand tied behind his back.
The midfield situation should have been addressed at least a year ago but they opted to wait and then bring in a Arthur with a known injury record. I think he's played like 12 minutes for us.
There are times when you need to be bold and make big signings to steer the ship.
Remember VVD, Alisson..
We need this sort of statement and not to keep money in the pockets.
Nunez is proving to be a good signing but I still feel that could've got us 1 or 2 reliable midfielders.
Gakpo also looks a top talent, his fee was worthwhile..

The team is fatigued, not only from last season but since we won the league. It supposed to be our glory years lol

I agree with the tactics situation, we never take shots from outside the box but thats because we dont have players with the ability to score those type of goals. Gerrard/Coutinho type goals is a major part of our game thats missing. but klopp has served us well, if he had the fund like some of the other teams we would be well ahead.

If only the club was sold a few months back, look at newcastle, sitting 3rd just one season after that huge cash injection. lol

Exactly this. You can't tell me eddie howe is a better manager than klopp. Give him the funds, he's smart and bold.
I am also missing the shots outside the box. Elliot is the only one lately capable of that.
When you remember your teams long range shots over the last couple years and can count them on one hand you know there's a problem.
Memorable ones... ox vs city in the champions league, fabinho vs city in the prem, salahs strike over ederson in the prem and I think Curtis Jones scored a beauty years back (may have been fa cup)

He may not be better manager, but he is a good manager as he is buying players he needs for the club unlike teams like city and chelsea who are just buying players because they can.
The problem is that Klopp prefers a small squad, and that has been his undoing right now. I agree if he has the backing, he would get the players he wants in the right positions and make things happen like he did the season we won the league.
With regards to shots from outside the box, its not necessarily we dont have players capable of this, I think its more the style of trying to walk it in everytime and make everything intricate and beautiful. There are times when you just need to take those shots to put the opposition team under pressure...which is what we are not doing any longer. Salah's long range shot against Ederson was one when Ederson was out of the box. Nunez has been the best thing under the sun for us, he adds that added bit of drive and danger everytime he pushes forward.

I reckon you'll should just support a new team

Yeah I was holding back because Richarlison was such a wet. He's gone now and it seems Everton are scoring goals outside the box.
Sign me up!
I've always liked Sean Dyke. He will keep them up.
I think Dyke should replace Klopp. We have a Burnley squad, so he will do well with them ;)

I hope Diaz will return soon. with him Nunez and Salah we will have a fearsome front 3 again.

Klopp has really shaken the squad up tonight...benched some big names.

After that city game I'm not surprised to be honest. Only caught the last 20 mins of this half. Wasn't looking too bad

VAR has saved us twice in this game...2 chelsea goals disallowed. The team is playing absolutely rubbish though. Nunez looks like the bright spark and Firmino is doing his thing as well.

Only person worth mentioning is Nunez.
Bobby Jota Jones did absolutely nothing.

Still don't get why carvalho is not playing...

Yeah Nunez was good. Konate also didn't have a bad game.
I have no idea why Carvalho isn't playing. He's sharp

Nicola Barella
Bellingham

mount and gallager are good third option
and a dc upgrade - Gardiol to partner konate for the future if matip goes

out:
ox, fermino, kieta ,curtis, matip

My crazy idea: buy a first team RB that can defend, move Trent into RCM, where Henderson currently plays.
That can solve 2 problems at once. Midfield of Fabinho, Bajetic (or new signing), Trent. Henderson and Thiago in squad roles

I think 2 more midfielders as I'm unsure of fabinho..
Also I agree with the trent role, I can see him doing well there.
As for rb, I've always rated cancel and his situation seems uncertain.
I also would love if we could somehow get Reece James if chelsea continue their slump.
Probably just a dream as I don't know his contract situation or if his loyalty lies at chelsea

Chelsea fan here.

Reece James is NOT for sale (I hope at least 😅). He signed a new long term contract with us a few months back and is one of the top earners now so hopefully he stays put.

It seems more likely that Mason Mount is heading your way which doesn't sit well but I get it (getting some serious Mo Salah vibes there) :( It would be like Harvey Elliott jumping ship to play for us

Okay I thought as much. He seems like he's part of the furniture there like Trent at liverpool.
Mason mount would be a great signing for us but who knows what will happen now that potters out and he may get game time or a new contract.

Agreed. We'll have to see what happens when the season is over.

It's difficult for anyone to nail down a starting spot in our bloated team at the moment so we will need to offload at least 10 players in the transfer window to balance the books (and bench) again.

Anyway I won't derail your Liverpool thread any further. As you were :)
