Laptop buying advice - too many options

Hi all,

My wife needs a laptop for work. It'll mainly be used for writing reports (MS Word etc) and sending mail, so nothing heavy.
Are there any recommendations for laptops?
I've been looking at: ASUS Laptop X515EA-I58512G4W Intel I5-1135G7 , 8GB RAM , 512GB SSD , 15.6 Inch
Is this overkill? Are lower end laptops powerful enough for daily work tasks, can we go cheaper?

If it's really literally this, then on paper any i3 from gen 10 onwards with 8gb ram and a basic ssd will do the job.

You are somewhat spot on with the above X515 models, these are your lower end consumer based laptops. You can also look at the Ryzen 5 7000 series options.
