Keyboard Nut Thread

Does this count as a keyboard nut keyboard? Keychron K2 V2 hotswappable, Gateron Red.

I finally see what people mean when they say that gaming keyboards are rubbish for typing.

Hey guys, so I'm looking at getting some linear switches from CtrlShiftEsc. I currently have the Akko Lavenders Tactile switches which feels nice.
I've been looking at the Durock POMS / Cap Gold Yellow V2, though any suggestion would be appreciated.
I already have films and lube provided by Keyboard Kulture and looking to get the BoW keycap set as well for my GMMK pro.

You really can’t go wrong with either switch. The Durock POMs are some of my favourite switches, but can be susceptible to spring ping (nothing a bit of lube can’t fix)

Thanks @Cujo26 If seen a lot of vids / recommendations and I'm really leaning towards that end! I don't care too much about RGB if it gets affected, though it does sound nice from what I listened to if that is accurate at all anyway.
On that note what kind of switch opener would I require? I tried to lube the Lavenders but I have no idea to open them, I'm still very new in this hobby.

You can get a simple one 3D printed by someone you know, or you can get the aluminium one off of ctrlshiftesc, the 3D printed ones are fine but have a tendency to break after a while

Anyone know where I could find some black switches? But not a full set? Have browns, but want to make my enter/space-bar/backspace/esc black.

This is normal, I promise.

Haven't been in the thread for some time, but might have a few gat black inks (already lubed with 205g0). Will check if I have some around not in use.

Ah, I missed this thread. Sadly I'm still typing on a Redragon, but fingers crossed CSE will belp me change that in the near future. On an unrelated bote, anyone need a kidney?

Just pulled the trigger (after selling a kidney) on the UHK V2, with brown switches – and the 3-key cluster, the trackpoint cluster and the trackball cluster...

Should have it by some time in the week after this one.
Here's hoping customs don't rip me a new one...

Ah man that's so cool! I look forward to seeing it when it lands. If you're in the Western Cape, it would be cool if you bring it to a meetup.

Pretty sure he is in Stellenbosch as well so you can probably pop in :sneaky:

Thank you SARS. An extra R2067.20 to get it through Customs. Good grief. This keyboard has now almost cost me as much as a new laptop. 🥴

Good thing they are built to last…

Here are some pics of the new keyboard – the UHK V2.

Very impressed so far – the Agent software (see here for the online demo) has introduced "smart macro commands", that fortunately allow for really fine-tuning of the trackball and trackpoint clusters.
I am a heavy user of the Magic Trackpad, using the behind-the-scenes-trickery of BetterTouchTool to get the most out of my trackpad – but purposefully spent the entire day today with it packed away (i.e. only using the trackball and key cluster module), with almost zero loss of functionality! Colour me surprised – whilst I was hopeful – didn't actually expect them to work so well.

Build quality is very good, as with the V1. Running brown switches – but with everything being hot-swappable, might explore other options (looking at you, blue) going forward.

I desperately want to try typing on this

Hey guys, I have a Redragon Fizz Rainbow (super cheap hot-swap 3 pin board)
I've been looking at some smooth linear switches(Akko probably) and some budget PBT keycaps.
What do you guys recommend?
based in Cape Town at the moment but I have a 3-month stint in the US in July.
I have a budget of R1000.

Sorry don't have a camera for photos, getting one in 2024

They arrived!
Super creamy and smooth!
Would recommend if you need a budget linear switch

I hopped out of my flying car after my 2 hour work week and saw this Ad on the nano sky and was blown away, Amazing what tech can do nowadays!

But seriously, there is so much wrong with not only their "demos" and marketing but also with how amazing cagey they are.
The "Ceo" is a ghost, The company is not a company, and nothing else about anyone there exists?
No employees registered as working there on LinkedIn, which is crazy for a tech company, They had a prototype up and running before being funded?

If they are somehow "real" I would eat a bag of bricks.
Please dont fall for this until some real proof is provided people!

That said this thread is awesome so far, and has anyone used a resin 3D printer for an ergo setup like the dactyl manuform keyboard?, I see print are available online and I could print it myself, but theres a place near me with a resin printer that I feel would up the quality a bit.
Either way its an experiment to be had. :]

I mean they're just using Finalmouse's concept, right?

I have not tried using a resin printer for it, but I don't see why a large-enough printer couldn't be used for this

I thought about doing a regular print and then smoothing it but honestly I just really like the "feeling" of a resin print.
Just one of those quirks I guess.

Also to speak on finalmouse's concept, It honestly looks great and is even a bit "well priced" for a finalmouse product, but there are very obvious differences between the FM concept and the "Magic" that is the flux keyboard.
Mainly they say that it is a hall effect based switch? but like how?

Essentially this piece of plastic/glass sits on top of a regular IPS monitor screen and "hall effects" through it to components below.
For anyone who has seen how thick an IPS monitor screen is that's legitimately ridiculous, it is possible dont get me wrong, just unlikely.
Most hall effects you will find will have the sensor practically touching the magnet as per inverse square law.
Operating it through a screens gonna be very difficult, especially when the 2 different magnets are practically touching.
That being said it is actually possible, but some unknown Kickstarter company accomplishing it? I doubt it.
Also the FM Concept is a lot more logical in its use case, but then again I guess it is made for GAMERS where as flux seems wishy washy.

If you really want I can get into the nitty gritty of why I don't think it will work, with graphs and everything, but for now I think its better to wait with popcorn in hand.
