Im pretty new to the custom keyboard world. Are there sound differences (if any) when using a plastic case vs aluminium?

For me there was a difference in sound. Aluminium base plates are louder and more high-pitched with the typing experience, but generally feel better (more premium) - it's mostly down to the down-press so the harder you hit the key, the more is the clang of the sound. It's not obscenely loud, but noticeable.

There's also the profile of the keyboard to consider, where a high-profile keyboard will muffle some of the down-press (and you can add foam underneath the base to help that further).

Yes, but getting used to the Lily58 and new layout has slowed me down considerably.
I'm currently down to 30 wpm from my usual 70.

I bought a 10-pack of NK Creams from CtrlShiftEsc to try out.

I've got Gat Blank Ink V2s and Tealios here, so interested in comparing each soon!

Definitely gonna be the Black Incs man, I love the sound of the NK Creams but that scratchiness, Would go lubed and filmed Milky Yellows...
Cherry MX Blacks is my next switch from CtrlShiftEsc, gonna lube and film those.
But C3 Tangerines are on order! And some Alpacas as well

@Fiber It really depends on how large of a person you are and your typing style. I'd suggest a wrist rest just in case.

Haha well coming from a laptop keyboard so i'd say fast and not very clicky so brown switches.
Does anyone know if the K6 & K8 are any better?

I got the ePBT x GoK BoW PBT set - best caps I've had so far I reckon
Also got this custom coiled cable from @ctrlshiftesc_za which I'm absolutely in love with.

I also purchased a GMK Sumi Deskmat, which unfortunately isn't tall enough to fit underneath my Artisan mousepad so I'm selling it. You guys can have a peep at my sale thread here

I had to use DHL for shipping, and then got charged for Customs too.

30,00 € for the mat, $25 for DHL express shipping, R350 for customs once it landed here

Unfortunately not mate, I got the Deskmat on a 4am-couldn't-sleep whim a few weeks after falling into the same trap with the caps


Just to correct myself, it was actually FedEx and not DHL that they used. Just having a look at FedEx's Customs email to me, the tariff code says ROD? Not sure what that means.

So, I've been keeping my hands off my Glorious Panda's until I am completely satisfied with the 'run in' on the Kailh Burnt Orange switches I am currently using.

It's been a few weeks worth of frustration waiting for all the 'factory' lube to wear off and the switches to start making consistent noises. The audible clicks are very subtle and not obnoxious at all. I wouldn't call the sound satisfying though...

The tactility on these switches are fantastic. Consistent feedback every single time. After some unbiased number crunching, I would personally prefer these over the Kailh Speed Coppers that was in my Ergo Dox. I wish I could sort out the sound, but it is what it is. If you're on the fence regarding Kailh Burnt Orange, be sure that you want to buy into the box switches. If so, these are actually great after the initial run in period.

ps. Glorious is going in this weekend. Tempted to solder these box oranges into my Ducky.... Hmmmm.

I only have one, that I got from @Razia as a gift. He has the initial Feker run, where the housing still has 'INVYR' on them.

Comparing the knock off with the Glorious Panda, I don't think I will be able to tell you which is which in a blind test. (Without a board and caps) Would love to feel the fakes in a board though, I think it's great value and so damn near the real thing.
