My parents have 2 phones, both iPhones (still trying to find out exactly which version/model). Both phones work fine, apart from their batteries being kaput. Takes about an hour for it to run flat from full charge (apparently).

Does anyone have a good contact on where we can replace the batteries?
(Is it even advisable to replace the batteries? Do they use OEM or I would safely assume most likely none-OEM parts?)

We're in Gauteng (between Roodepoort and Vereeniging).

Thanks in advance

I replaced my battery and charging port on a iPhone XR at one of the shops in Vaal Mall.
I believe the place was called The Repair Desk its next to Chicken Licken.

They had the choice between "genuine" iphone battery or generic.
I went for the generic, Its been almost 2 months now and I have no complaints.

Cost?

In my experience, even when they say "genuine" option, it aint genuine Apple, it will be a "premium" knock-off. Save the headache and get the batts replaced at an iStore. I think an XR batt is R1000. But then you have a warranty with Apple.

If iStore charged us R1k for a battery, I'd do a handstand, naked, in public.

But thanks, I'll find out about that from them

Sent you a DM, realised I worked off of assuming it was an XR, but if you can find out what the models are, I have access to a price list, so you can just pop me a message.

What is the turnaround for iStore battery replacements? Any idea?
Short answer: It depends.

Long answer: Depends on how busy the store is but usually within 1 or 2 hours. They can give ETA in the store as they would know how busy it is.

Also make sure you go to one which has techs/workshop otherwise it will take days to ship between branches.

Turnaround is also dependant on part availability.

All the above can be checked by dialling the support line or visiting any iStore - they can easily contact between stores.
