Hi all, I am thinking of purchasing a laptop in the US and sending it to a package forwarder (Stackry).
I was wondering if laptops are still exempt from import tax, other the 15% Vat?
Does anyone know?

If someone has an alternative recommendation to Stackry, I'd also be interested!

If you know the whole process well, I know there is a way to have them labled as "office parts" which are tax exempt. In the past amazon has managed to do this on there side but going through a third party I have no idea what it takes to make this happen. Ive ordered computer parts in similar fashion to what you are doing and they were all taxed.. If you find out how to do it please share your experience.

This is what I can find online - Officially, imported laptops also require South Africans to pay 15% VAT. Laptops, unlike some other electronics categories, do not, however, attract any import duties.

I'm also not sure if there is a maximum cost the laptop can be? Is there a threshold before more complications?
