HWBot 3DMark05/06 OC'ing help needed, again....

So as in the pics below, in 3Dmark05 and 06 I'm far behind the leader with no significant difference in overall PC performance. I must be doing something wrong. Please help. I'm a noob

Both 1st and 2nd place is using what looks like a clean install of Windows 7 with aero disabled. Perhaps that's what I should be looking at.

If you really want to be hardcore you can get a stripped down version of Vista or create your own with a tool like nLite.

Im glad dude i aim to please when it comes to benching .. i have several tiny XP images but the listed ones work best

One last thing, will it make a noticeable difference if I use a normal 7200rpm drive instead of a SSD. I got a spare drive from my brother, but SSD's are not so easy to come by just for benching >_< and dont want to mess around with my OS SSD.
