Hi fellow Carbies

As the title suggests, I need to wipe two routers of any personal/sensitive data before I attempt to sell them.
I am also clueless as to how I can test them to confirm everything is good before a sale thread is created.

Any advice is appreciated. (y)

Good question,

Cant you just factory reset the router, wont this remove all data?

Another one iv been thinking of lately is,

How to safely wipe a harddrive before sale.

I don't think people realise you can recover almost 100% of data once a drive has been formatted.

I have HDD's that I'm planning to recover through a local company in the near future.
The threat is real.

Used DBAN before - small bootable program that overwrites entire HDD. Not too sure about SSD's though.

I've used DMDE that I purchased to do a recovery of a drive that I formatted. File structure etc remained intact. Scary! There is software available that writes over all recognisable data when formatting.

They will only get my anime collection and anime soundtracks :p

But it is a big problem. Also phones I'm sure are an issue as well as one normally has more personal info on them
