Help wanted Ford Focus 2012 Steering wheel malfunctioned

Hi Everyone,
I am having a consistent problem with the power steering on my '12 Focus.
Does anyone perhaps know how much it would cost me to fix or know of a mechanic that can fix it for me?

I am in CPT/Kuils River

2012 is a fairly recent vehicle surely you can take to the agents ? Steering wheel and components are serious things to mess with or get a reliable ford specialist. Surely there is also Ford specific forums.

I had this on my 2011 ford focus i owned a year or two back.

Steering assist malfunction , That is what the display kept saying, and i was driving on the highway when it happened and lost power steering completely ( super dangerous )

If it is the same a new steering rack from ford was going to set me back around 35k - 40k depending on dealership.

They can reset the codes and problem wont happen or pop up for a bit, but then suddenly when you try start the car and the wheel is so stiff you cant turn it then bam that error pops up again, or like mine when i thought was find Bam on the highway it happened and almost rolled.

I eventually took it back to the dealership that sold me the vehicle and forced them to take the vehicle back .

It is a serious problem and the 2011 - 2012 models suffered from the steering rack failure ( certain models )

I know there is a group on the focus fanatics where there are alot of accounts of the guys having same issues
