Hi everyone my laptop has a rootkit virus and i need to remove it ASAP

AVAST picks up the bug but as soon as it trys to delete it it crashes my system

This is the bugger

BOO/TDss.M

download combofix, start the pc in safemode and then run combofix , should clean it.

if combofix does not want to run, because you have a rootkit, then scan the drive with a antivirus that scan before windows booted, avast have that option also.

Thanks Angel, however before I found your answer I installed Kasperky's TDss Killer app and it seems to have cleaned it up

However im considering doing a factory reset on my laptop (to start fresh) tell could the recovery portion of my HDD also be infected ? In other words I dont wanna reset and than boooom same problem all over again, could the factory reset settings be affected by this virus ?

it should not, its normally locked for writing stuff to it.

just in case after the factory default run the anti virus and combofix after it , to make sure its gone.
