Hi All,

Interested in buying a Govee Product and in my search for best prices I stumbled upon the Black Friday 2023: Up the 38% OFF | Govee South Africa website. Prices are a fair bit cheaper on here then lets say Takealot. I want to get the Govee Dreamview T2.

Has anyone bought directly from this site. Can anyone assits in advising if the site looks fake?

Thanks in advance,

Am not an expert in this, but the site looks very much like the European version.

And the price for the T2 in Europe is currently 99 Euro - so the price on this website is not unreasonable.

URL registered in September of this year
No address, contact number or registration number (legal requirements)
No legal entity in SA called Govee
All other Govee sites are (region).govee.com - eg eu.govee.com or us.goveee.com
Footer is different - eu. and us. have almost identical footers, .za is completely different

Almost certainly a scam site.

One more thing:

All regions' Facebook link is GoveeOfficial, this one is GoveeSA, created 2 August of this year
All regions' YouTube link is Govee, this one is GoveeSA which started uploading 2 weeks ago
All regions' Instagram is goveeofficial, this one is govee_sa which started uploading 13 weeks ago
All regions have links to Twitter and FlipFlop TikTok, this one doesn't have

The more I look, the more I'm convinced. This isn't Govee having amateur hour at entering SA, this is someone riding on a big name to scam.

Way to easy these days.
But as the saying goes. "If it looks to good to be true...."
Sites like these Wil entice the impulse buyers to make purchases they come to regret. Nearly R700 cheaper then the best price I could find.

Anyway to report sites like these?

Hey - just a follow up on this. It looks like it might actually be legit. I emailed their global site (Govee - Making Your Life Smarter) and the response is below. Not great english but i think it means they approve of it. I also found them on Facebook: Govee South Africa
and they link to the site. The facebook seems legit - they have been going a while and have interactions etc. Plus refer you to purchase on Takealot. I havent bought from them direct so can't guarantee but it does seem legit. Maybe try call them? They do have some good deals esp unboxed deals.

I think its legit - I'm going to email the global site again for confirmation

I have follow-up info. The site is not owned or operated by Govee, but is authorized by them - hence all the differences between their owned and operated stores vs the SA one.

Does that make it legit? Not necessarily, but I think you can safely approach with less caution than otherwise required.
