I just put together a rather hefty order directly through ekwb and was wondering if anyone here has any experience in doing so?
The reason I ask is because I am curious as to how import duties and taxation on the components will work. Could anyone tell me roughly what I should expect to pay on top of my order?

Customs depends entirely on the mood of the customs officer on the day. Some imports I paid R50 others were over R2000. It's a very uneven system.

Also depends on which courier you use. DHL you will get assraped irrespective. Aramex I found to be alot more forgiving on import costs as they seem to document things correctly.

10% upliftment fee on the value of the parcel and then 15% vat

I have a parcel leaving the USA Today
Should have bought together
Don’t like ordering from EKWB
Range is too limited

when I see the shipping cost from PPC for just something like a fitting or 2, I wanna cry :(

@Firestrm_ZA is Aramex the shipping option of no tracking? I only get 2 options on EK... 1 being a no tracking cheap option and the other a DHL expensive version

Thanks for the quick replies guys. I said put together an order, but I haven't placed the order yet - I just want to know what I'm in for.
@Firestrm_ZA I'll give DHL the skip then, thanks for the quality info.
@fatty Out of interest, where do you buy from?

Always use ppc(performancepc) and dhl
Never had an issue with customs
Stuff pre cleared and paid and here in 3-5 days no problems

Shipping can’t be expensive and that’s y I try to group buy but they also have such a wide range of things that I tend to buy forward and use them
shipping costs per unit is okay then

You ship to an Aramex address in Europe. They do the rest. Look up Aramex global shopper.

yep, expected as much... wanted to make sure I am not missing something again

so maybe next time "as ek nie slaap nie" I will go with Aramex

please don't

if you are going to post videos/pictures of distro boards like that being milled, I may just need to go purchase a whole new drawer of underwear

@fatty cheapest option on a $10 BP fitting is $15 for 15-45 days... next is $50 DHL option for 1-3 days

If you want the fitting send me the link
I’ll include it in my parcel

I've only ever paid vat extra when importing from ekwb

While I don't have experience with EKWB I do have importing with DHL.

Be sure to check what the usual customs fees are for your order because DHL is very quick to phone and tell you that you need to pay Rxxxx.00 to have your product released.

I once ordered motorcycle parts for about R 2000.00 and they tried to make me pay and extra thousand odd rand. I told them to kindly go eat a dick and recalculate what I must pay because it shouldn't have been more than R400.00. Needless to say after about 6min they phoned me back with the correct amount. It's not the first time it has happened which makes me think that they are taking advantage of people's ignorance which is a load of BS.

Customs is worse now with new VAT so whatever you think you're going to pay, it'll be worse.
Have it on good info that all items will be cleared at an additional premium by virtually all customs agents, so on top of what they would charge they will add 3 to 5%

Customs is not random, it's entirely predictable and nothing to do with the mood of the customs officer, they just follow the tariff sheets. It also does not depend on the courier used in any way whatsoever, the only difference in this is the individual courier clearing fees, between R50 and R175 depending and their disbursement fees, 1.5% to 2.5% of the customs charges.

That's just simply untrue, and if your clearance agent is charging you 5% more for no reason, you need a new clearing agent.

Import from China with DHL. They will write the box has "4 water plumbing fittings" 0 tax. Conventionally you will pay handling fee, +VAT, etc etc.

Rectron supplies this,
Contact Rebeltech and they can get your order through Rectron.

Local warranty is lekker

not everything and I think was told they only do an import like every 3-4 weeks I think it was

Range is very limited and only keep the basic stuff
Everything else is on special order

You may be better off doing a special order as you will end up paying more going direct, if only because of the shipping depending on what you want. No point paying shipping and taxes of $115 on a $108 GPU block

I'm not sure how DHL and couriers charge, I just pay and I pay through my bums.
As for proper imports that I did as a business, I use forwarding agents that will clear and get everything for you which work out much much cheaper, I'm not sure if they do once off though.
but generally you're looking at the value of what you buy plus another +- 25-30% (now that vat is 15%)

Send a list of EAN codes off of EKWB site and ask them to send it to Rectron,
They can and will bring all of it in for you.

And yes, you will need to wait unfortunately :)

If you need specific parts I can probably ship those out to you cheaper than going direct from EKWB. Just that it'll take a little longer.
You can DM me for the exact parts and I'll ask the EK sale rep here who is a good friend what he can do for me.
