I was soo keen for Dragon's dogma 2
It seems like a few people have gotten early access for reviews.
Looks like it's going to be relying heavily on upscaling and frame generation to get playable framerates of 50-60fps
I'll wait for it to get some proper benchmarks to confirm or disprove it, Makes me sad a bit.
Hopefully Forbidden west is playable from the get go, I doubt it but I can hope.

Agreed. I was really looking forward to it but I don't know if my 3060ti will get me a good performance.

just remember bois the reviews was mostly done on 4k. If you're rocking 3060ti with 4k screen, i mean, there's your problem. Not agreeing with how poor the game seems to run. I know I'll have a blast because who needs maximum settings on? Only nerds that can't look past a pixel.

The game would certainly benefit from supporting frame generation and it's a little odd that Capcom didn't implement it, even though the dll file for DLSS Frame Gen is present in the installation folder.
Source : Dragon's Dogma 2 performance analysis: It'll take everything your PC has and still want more

I really hope they enable that in a Day 1 patch but it seems odd that they didn't enable it for reviewers.

Oh, the stuff I've been reading/watching says they had it enabled. Oh well. Looks like I'll be skipping the game regardless. I'm over games that can barely run on top of the range hardware.

I think you'll like Horizon Forbidden West more. Digital Foundry said that a RTX3070 at native 1440p High did like 55FPS.
With DLSS and the well implemented dynamic resolution options, it should be smooth sailing for most people.

I don't have a problem with peeps playing at lower settings or what not but if you rocking a top of the range GPU/CPU and still can't max the game out then what's the point of having a game with settings like that? This isn't even a crysis situation. Crysis was a game that turned your PC into it's little bitch because it actually looked amazing and pushed things to the limit. Starfield and Dragon's Dogma 2 definitely do not do that.
During the 9XX and 10XX generation, those top end GPUs could run anything you threw at them during their time and now a person rocking a 4090 might get 70-80fps max settings @1440p if they are lucky with these "modern" titles. Sure, if it was a solid 70-80 fps then perhaps it can be lived with but when fps tanks by 20fps when in fights or walking into a village, it's very noticeable.

As expected.
The game runs like ass but the things I weren't expecting were 2 dollar microtransactions to change your character's appearance.
In order to delete your character you have to turn off could saves and delete the folder on your PC then create a new one.
Only having one character slot..... Oof they fucked up hard.

At least I have forbidden west to play and that seems to have very little wrong with it. Peeps playing on medium with a 3050.
Going to replay Zero dawn and then buy and jump into forbidden west.

Honestly this is why pirating games on a PC exists, download, check it out and if you like then buy, otherwise delete and move on. So sad how the butchered this game with such stupid decisions that they KNEW people would hate.

Forbidden West already runs and looks fine on a PS5 in performance mode so there is no excuse for it to run crappy on a more powerful pc.
Dissapointed by DD2, I was really looking forward to this game. Hopefully these issues are sorted out soon.

I generally buy the game and then do a refund if I don't like it but that is to test the game itself.
If the game runs like total slop then screw that shit. Won't waste my time.

Bought it a few days ago, refunded it today. Irrespective of performance issues it doesn't seem like my type of game to be honest. Never played DD1 and did very little research up until Youtube reviews dropped.

Kek.

Edit, I honestly thought it was just a funny meme, but it's real
That's actually hilarious.

Problem is when character creation takes 2 hours and steam is just like nope sorry. Sometimes it takes longer than the refund period to really see a game for what it is.

ROFL, Well that's your fault for not downloading the character creator which is free.
But I understand what you are saying. I have spent many hours going back and forth and creating characters in games like BG3 but I think this game is going to get enough negativity around it that steam might refund regardless for a while. They've done it with a few stupid releases like that zombie garbage that came out last year.

There was a time when game demos existed, piracy back then was literally about avoiding to pay for a full game.

Was talking more generally and not about this game specifically with character creation. But something like BG3, that game was so good I bought it after seeing how it is. Honestly I think most games should give you 10 hours or like 5-10% of progress for free then you decide if you want to buy it and finish it. Would make more game devs actually develop something proper instead of the garbage we get these days.

Yea, I'm actually against the argument "Pirate games to test them out first"
I understand it and normally I'd be like sure, Test it out and if you like it then buy it and support them etc.
BUT I can guarantee the majority of those people do not buy it and I speak from knowing two people who do exactly that. They argue that they want to test the game, they finish the pirated version and then go "Meh, wasn't good enough to buy"

I bought DD1, played about an hour, fell of a building died. Yet to try it again 🤐

You should practically never buy AAA and never support a company that pushes out garbage.

How has Capcom been doing for the last 12 years and tell me they deserve your support?
They've been pushing out flop after flop. Best to hit them where it hurts -> Pirac...I mean their wallets.

DLSS, FSR and frame gen has become a crutch for poor game optimization rather than a tool to help achieve even higher frame rates on a good foundation. Companies would rather just slap it on there as a quick "fix" instead of optimizing it to run well. Nixxes has had stellar ports since Deus Ex: HR so I'm not surprised by the good performance of Horizon: Forbidden West.

Only if you read the "about" section in detail, otherwise at a glance the micro-transactions heavily implies you need to buy the item/ability behind the paywall in order to use it in the game, which is by nature what micro-transactions are expected to be. It's not an insurance contract you buying, so there is no reason for someone to look beyond the self-explanatory item name, thinking "oh gee maybe I should read the fine print as maybe they might actually be giving this away for free".
