Full review time:
On Monday I bought a chip from a carbie and had it sent to
@G3t Wr3k3d's office. Pre-testing was done by him to confirm the chip was 100% in working condition and to confirm that I wanted to go ahead with it. I was provided with screenshots of HWInfo for a previous 4790K chip he delidded to give me an idea of how it improved and I was blown away. Throughout all this, we're chatting shit and having a good laugh which I really appreciated as it shows a personality you can trust behind a forum name. I hadn't even met the bloke.
Every single flippen step of this process was just amazing, he sent me pictures describing every single thing he does and why he does it, so I fully understand how delidding, cleaning, repasting and sealing works. I saw my chip's toothpaste like TIM be cleaned off and shiny new liquid metal being applied. I even learnt some things I think I could use elsewhere when working with electronics in the future.
The chip cured overnight, and after work the next day he began post-testing the chip and all was well, a few meaty stress tests later and the improvement was very clear, and I was super impressed by the quality of his service. I went to pick the chip up the next morning from his offices and chucked it into my system.
(If I forgot to mention any parts above I'm soz it's a lot to write)
He also gave me a lot of tips on OCing, some guidance on where to start and now I can show ya'll what we got going:
i7 4790K @ 4.7Ghz on 1.275v
Cooled by a CM Hyper 212 Evo peaking 33c above ambient with a max delta of 1 degree
Using a 5 year old tube of Arctic Silver 5
That is quality ladies and gents. I 100% recommend you send your chips to
@G3t Wr3k3d for a full house treatment.
