Good day

Buyer: @armandhansen
Seller: @Mumzo
Deal Thread: [Sale] - Sk Hynix 512gb m.2 sata Solid State Drive + 8gb PC4 Laptop Ram | Memory / RAM
Bad experience with @Mumzo
Description of bad deal: No contact from seller with regards to issue

I offered seller R1300.00 for combo with shipping (Monday 1st of March). We then took the conversation over to Whatsapp and he confirmed everything is fine. Wanted to know which Courier service I prefer and I said The Courier Guy is perfect as I would get the item next day. I made the payment on Monday night (and seeing that he banks with Tymebank it would only clear next day). Tuesday 2nd of March he confirms that funds had cleared (at 17H48) so expecting parts to be shipped on Wednesday the 3rd. Wednesday night I sent a message to confirm if he posted it. Didn't hear anything from him until next morning (Thursday 4th) at 9AM where he states he couldn't send it via The Courier Guy. Would PEP Paxi be fine. At this point I was a little angry and said NO, I'll arrange for Courier to collect today (Thursday 4th) and asked to be refunded the R100.00 that was baked into the original price. Message was read but no response. I luckily got confirmation that the package was collected and received it today.

So, ad clearly states that everything is "100s working". I did ask seller in whatsapp what the SSD health was. He said he didn't have any means (no m.2 pc/laptop) to test this. He did mention it came out of a Dell 7480 Ultrabook. So after I received the parts (exactly the same as in picture) I did a HDD Sentinel test and found the M.2 SSD only has 21% health left Image Link

So I sent seller a message to ask I'd prefer a refund and I'll send everything back (8GB Ram is working). But now he blocked me on Whatsapp and my calls to him is not going through. What can I do now?

To be fair as per the health status the drive is working 100% with no errors reported. The health indicated might purely be because of age or lifetime writes and is only to be used as a guideline. The drive might run fine for another 2 years or 1 month.

Are you sure that the days left report is accurate for this drive? If it is that would mean this drive from a laptop has had a 100 or more Terabytes written to it. I base this off a 256GB Samsung SSD which reported a write score of 7 after almost 200TB of writes. A 512GB drive would theoretically have double the write capacity (but you need to take into account MLC vs TLC vs QLC)

Hey @FxTreme yeah for sure the drive is working 100%. But with me wanting to use it within a business machine, I can not take that change to loose data. My problem here is, after I received the 2 parts, I tested both of them and was not happy with the M.2 SSD's health. And I should be able to return it for a refund because of this or at the least have a discussion with the seller. But I was not afforded the decency as he has blocked me. And with me paying the shipping out of my pocket, the entire deal cost me R1550.00, I could have forgone the extra RAM and bought a brand new M.2 drive with warranty.

@Syphonx I did some digging into this and these are the attributes that comes directly from the SSD. Weather or not these are true, I wouldn't want to take the risk with my business data. I tested the drive with HDD Sentinel, Drive Manager Easy Kit and Samsung Magician (which supports this drive) and they all gave me the exact same report.

As mentioned above, I just wanted to be afforded the opportunity for a refund or exchange or discussion or something. But buyer just ghosted me...

Those are QLC ramcached, their lifetime writes are significantly less than their pricier counterparts

I bailed out from dealing with him due to getting newbie/FB dealings vibe and not having the energy to deal with it but no direct malice detected

Maybe he really didnt know about the writes and doesnt care about reputational damage possibility. You did kinda roll the dice on it though to be fair

Unfortunately you went ahead with the deal without a health report and received the item in working condition as mentioned in his thread. Me personally, I would also not be happy with this but then again I wouldn't have gone ahead without a health report. As for the shipping fee's, yes you should be refunded for that at least..
