Amd build help and advice

I need help and suggestions on building my first Amd pc ever, so please excuse me if I sound like a total noob but I don't know any thing about Amd.

My choises of shops are : TakeaLot, Prophecy Shop and Wootware in that order.

So here goes what mobo (working on a budget of R1100 MAKS!!!)

a) Asus - M4A87TD/Usb3 - AM3 Socket Motherboard - TAKEALOT
b) Prophecy.co.za - Gigabyte 880GM-D2H AM3 Dual-Channel DDR3 PCI-E x16 (I actually want this)
c).......................

Ram now here is what I don't know, does this work like Sandy where you can just set the ram to 1600mhz in the bios or do you actually have to oc to get 1600mhz?? Ram (MAKS R500!!!) for a 2x2gig kit

I have already secured the 1100T cpu, so that is my weapon of choice.
Cooler for the cpu?? (MAKS R300!!!)

Please note I have a main gaming rig, I am just building this to see what Amd is all about so forgive my budget but that is my budget!

Also trying to go for a red theme...

Any other advice and suggestions will be MUCH appreciated.

MSI 970A-G45 Motherboard - Socket AM3 - TAKEALOT

For your price range, I'd rather go with the MSI, it's an AM3+ mobo.
Ram : Kingston Hyper-X KHX1600C9D3K2/4G ( KHX12800D3K2/4G ) - 2x 2Gb kit DDR3-1600 - TAKEALOT

Hope this helps, sorry about the red theme though, can't do themes on a budget

Ram I'd go for Ripjaws-X @ 1600 (CL9) R 390.00 or Ripjaws-X @ 1600 (CL8) - R 463.00

If you could push the budget a little try to find 1866mhz which would be handy if (read when) you upgrade to either Bulldozer or Piledriver. But both those 1600MHz kits should clock to 1866mhz without much hassle.

I dont think you're going to find many decent coolers for R300.

Cooler, maybe Zalman CNPS7000C-Cu (R278 @ w00t)? The review unfortunately only tested a 50w and 100w, not 125w as the turban is, but at 27.7c rise over ambient, I think its pretty decent. Might have to check clearance to the ram slots as its a fairly large cooler...

Oh, you might need to take a look at Dolk's Guide to the Phenom II. Think theres an answer to your memory question in there somewhere...

The MSI 990FXA GD65 only goes for R1500 and is SLI and Crossfire.
