Hey guys, I’m planning on ordering the majority of my parts from amazon as it’ll be cheaper than buying locally I will be getting some components from evetech though, so before I pull the trigger will these items keep their warranty from the manufacturers like Corsair, past amazons 30 day return policy? As they are being shipped from the United Kingdom to South Africa. Thanks for help!

Standard warranties apply. You'll most likely have to ship the items back to the US if you want to RMA something though, so keep that in mind. Those costs and the time delay are usually what dissuades people from buying from there.

Any item you see overseas at a price you can multiply that cost by 1.9x
$100 = R1900 (Import duties and vat and all that jazz) and that excludes shipping

I did most of the calculations including shipping and import fees, it’s significantly cheaper ordering from the UK, except for the CPU, Case, Monitor and certain peripherals

Just remember, amazon uk does not add all taxes before you get to the payment phase of checkout, which is different from the way amazon us does it. Last time I wanted to order a system, at the final checkout stage, the savings would have been a lot less - not enough to deal with warranty issues...

Thanks for the speedy reply, I don’t mind waiting if it means I’ll get the best price. My only issue was the warranty, Enjoy your day man

I buy from Amazon, no issues yet. But, I know someone who had a screen stolen en route, and someone who had to return to sender for warranty.

That's when things get more expensive.

i figured that out after a few days, but the savings are still about R3000

I would recommend 2 things here.

1. Buy local with eveything even if it works out slightly cheaper. With import tax and shipping you dont actually save all that much and if you do need to warranty something, while amazon is really good, it takes for ever which means you will not be able to use you pc for that time while waiting and local warranties are much quicker ................... presuming evetech gives you a warranty (See point 2)

2. Go to the search bar and search "evetech" and read the threads that come up before buying from them, specifically any threads about their their warranty ideas.

Thanks for the great advice, the savings come out to 3000 from amazon so I don’t mind waiting if I save that much, I didn’t realize Evetech had such bad reviews! How are they still running as a business? But they are the only suppliers in JHB and the cheapest so I’m torn but I’ll definitely consider Wootware now.

Rebeltech is also in JHB and they are excellent, Titan-ice is in PTA (They are more expensive than most tho but i have bought from them and done warraty claims with them with were easy) and there are a few more. I live in JHB and i personally use Wootware for 90% of my stuff. Although i am happy to pay a bit extra for good service, i know not everyone has that luxury but im over seeing threads about evetech.

I've bought quite a few things from Amazon with no hassles. But if you need to RMA an item, the shipping costs and arrangements will be on you...
