Hi Carbies,

Is it worth trying to argue with Evetech for a replacement unit ? Or can someone recommend a reputable store in Durban that does GPU repairs ?

After reading some Carbonite threads on Evetech, I certainly will not be purchasing from them again....

My story is I've had my MSI 3070 for +- 2 years. Recently it stopped working and I sent it back to Evetech for RMA assessment. Their email as follows;

"The unit has rust on the chassis and port connector plate.
Unfortunately, any physical damage that is client-induced, no matter the situation, is warranty void.
The service centre will reject the unit as per their Terms and Conditions.
The warranty only covers a defective item that is within it's warranty period, any defect such as physical damage, power surge damage, burn damage or corrosion is not covered by the warranty."

Rip.

Wootware is the same when it comes to rust. Possibly even worse.

They once refused to refund/replace a motherboard because there was some corrosion on CPU cooler. Even though the motherboard was in perfect condition.

Don't waste your time with Evetsek in general but the rust clause applies to all resellers, same as bent pins etc. try @gpuworx online. He does board level repairs and is fairly affordable

The logic would be that it is your responsibility to ensure that the item be maintained while in your possession. That would extend to making sure that the environment is suitable in terms of temperature, humidity etc.

Not in Durbs but you can maybe chat with PC Techies, perhaps they can assist? (OG ScorpioMan whom I cannot seem to tag)

Thanks for the feedback guys. Really appreciate it.

PM me the serial number and send me some pics of the rust. Chances are 99% it doesn't have local warranty (in which case there is no service center...), but I can check for you. If it is local stock, I can send MSI the pics and see if they'll overrule the disti's policy of not accepting returns from a certain retailer unless taken in by said certain retailer.
