Hi guys, saw some nice games going for very cheap as part of the Super Hits range. (Those ugly red boxes as pictured below.)

Does anybody know if you can add these games to your Steam account by linking the serial number?

I bought some EA Classics which I was able to add to my Origin account. (Only one of them didn't work, think it was Crysis Maximum Edition)

If it says it uses 3rd party DRM and has the steam gear logo, then yes you can.

Will have a proper look at the disc holder for the Steam logo. Think I'll grab Farcry 3 and see what happens seeing that is is going for something like R80.

Remember its per-title & far cry 3 uses ubisofts uplay.
You can add non-steam games to tge steam client yes but it wouldn't function like steam games

so when you launch Far Cry 3 from within Steam, through which you bought it, it would ask to launch Uplay??

I have added my EA games such as the CnC games and when I launch them, they don't ask for Origin.

that is why I mentioned that, in this particular case it may work fine because FC3 is also sold through Steam.

and I doubt Steam would sell a game which would require you to install yet another 3rd party app, unless I am mistaken. (cause the CnCs are all I have tried like this)

I just tried it with my far cry 3 & steam. For the life of me i cant get it to work... Everytime i add the far cry 3 exe it just launches uplay

Then again i dont care, i use uplay, origin and steam...

that would most likely be because your FC3 is not the Steam version.

you added it as a non-Steam game?

yep

I would think that if you were to buy FC through Steam, that version you download removes the required need for uplay, but then again as said before, it could actually still ask you for uplay

the only thing we can really suggest to OP is, try it and see what happens... luckily it is a cheap game and if it doesn't accept it through Steam, you don't really lose anything

yes, he is asking about buying that one, but registering it through Steam

I have been reading the posts, I promise :p

Lol thanks for the help guys. I know about the feature of adding non steam games to your steam client - basically using it as a launcher. I want to link the serial with my account in order for it to function as a game I bought on steam. I will give it a go and post the result here. Like OTC said, don't have anything to loose as I will still be able to play the game.

Pretty sure I've read before that even if you buy an ubisoft game through steam it'll open uplay coz of their crappy drm rules.

Think it will, same with the crappy Games for Windows Live games.

Just went through the same schlep trying to get GTA Liberty stories to work (Bought at Takealot for R90) and the game didn't wana launch without Games for Windows Live which is basically defunct although they say July 2014!

Googled a bit and found a XLiveless.dll patch and voila the game ran! but through Steam nothing happens getting an error msg about Windows Live launcher...

*edit*
Does anyone know why I cant set the graphics higher on GTA IV? nothing wants to adjust and it just stays on 800x600 and everything on low:confused:
