5.1 Sound on soundbar connected to PC

Hi All

So i have a 5.1 soundbar connected to the HDMI ARC port of a TV. Then I have a PC connected to a second HDMI port on this TV. The PC side, its connected to a DP port and converts into an HDMI to the TV.

My PC does not pick up the 5.1 setup and from what I've read I'm not sure if it ever can. Also on some forums I've come across, the Netflix on Windows app will still see the 5.1 setup and play it fine (need someone to confirm this). Then kodi has audio passthrough settings so I'm assuming that will be fine too, but I'm not sure how to test this. If 5.1 IS working does that mean i will hear some type of sound come out of each and every speaker?
If its not working should i only hear sound through 2 channels?

I'd prefer if there was a solution where i could just get windows to see it as 5.1.

Anyone with experience in this?

Hay bud , there should be an Hdmi Input in the soundbar where you would connect your PC Hdmi and then on the soundbar the Hdmi output should plug in to the tv. Also make sure that you ports is correct it has happened with me where i was looking everywhere for the issue but turns out i had the HDMI in the wrong port , hope that this might help

Thanks for the response I think you're 100 percent correct except i bought a 'budget' soundbar so lack of a 2nd hdmi port.

Haha you're right i didn't even consider this but if i can confirm netflix and kodi are definitely playing 5.1 I'll be happy. Sound quality is quite nice on the soundbar though.
