Good Day,

I am trying to find some people in this field to help with some questions as I have been doing 3D work on the side for quite some time but want to advance my knowledge in the field.
My end goal is photo realistic rendering.

Q?
(Noob to professional level info welcome)

1. What 3D programs are you using? (I have been using mainly Sketchup, Revit, some 3Ds Max.

2. What render software do you use? (I have been using Twin Motion, Vray)

3. Do you do photo realistic renderings or just the quick model to showcase your design?

4. What kind of modeling do you do? (I am in architecture so mainly Houses, Apartment blocks, Estates, Cold Storage facility/Offices.)

5. Anyone here doing this fulltime or freelance?

6. Anything else I'm missing here?

Thanks for your time :D

1. What 3D programs are you using? (I have been using mainly Sketchup, Revit, some 3Ds Max.
I've used Sketchup and Cinema 4D on combo with After Effects.

2. What render software do you use? (I have been using Twin Motion, Vray)
I tried Vray for sketchup but then I tried Octane renderer for Cinema 4D. It's so much faster to render with GPU power!

3. Do you do photo realistic renderings or just the quick model to showcase your design?
This depends on client needs. For smaller jobs I'll do a quick render with just the basic lighting setup. Otherwise I'll crank up the triangle count and resolution and let the render sit for a good few hours.

4. What kind of modeling do you do? (I am in architecture so mainly Houses, Apartment blocks, Estates, Cold Storage facility/Offices.)
I use Cinema 4D and sketchup quite a bit for modeling/rendering VFX work and some animated art.

5. Anyone here doing this fulltime or freelance?
I do some content creation full-time and freelance 👨🏻‍💻

Shot for the reply. So you model in Sketchup then import to Cinema 4D and then edit a bit using After effects?
Sounds like a lengthy process. My exposure to 3D modeling/rendering hasnt been to substantial so I mainly just do quick sketchup models to attach to my projects. A lot of client cant visualize 2D building plans so we often just do a simple 3D for more understanding.
So ye my goal is to try and do more photo realistic still shots for larger jobs

I don't model in sketchup and cinema 4D at the same time. It's either one or the other. Depending on the project difficulty and what artwork the client supplies.

Shot for the reply. As I have said above my modeling exposure has been quite minimal. Rather quicker less detailed projects. I did dable in some 3Ds Max in my personal time to try get ahead but fell short as the program is a lot more complicated than simple sketchup. Did some 3Ds max tutorials but it didnt last long when I was only able to use sketchup/revit at work.

WIll have a look at Corona, their gallery looks quite impressive.
Busy updating my CV / Website this weekend with some more recent work. Will contact you once complete (y)

Ahh I see. So sketchup for the quicker less complicated jobs?
