Liverpool FC

What a nervy game...the amount of offside goals is just crazy.

FInally after that marathon PK Shootout the cup is ours!!! This should now be the boost the team needs to go forward and keep winning.

Great game. We had our chances, mane 2 times so close. Salahs chip.

Glad kellerher got the nod for this game he deserved it. Kept us in this cup and what a way to end it.

YNWA

Poor game. Salah wasteful. Jota completely off form. And from the start our usual epic press was nonexistent.

Tbh the ref was just as poor. That Sanchez tackle on Thiago should have been a straight red.

Luckily we're on to the next round...Bayern looking deadly they're a team to watch out for.

How is Sanchez still on the pitch. FFS.

They might justify that the goal was enough but it doesn’t make sense with the dangerous play.. not even a yellow though

MD: don’t worry lad stay on the pitch, it will be all about me this week : | give lfc a hard time..

I was thinking the same...that should have been a RED...absolutely late challenge, and you can see there was no intent in trying to play the ball...he went straight after the man - his challenge was made after Luis headed the ball and it passed it...you cant blame it on poor reactions, coz i dont know any keeper that reacts with a WWE leg chop to the chest when trying to save a ball.

I recall a few seasons ago when Mane got a red card for a similar challenge on a keeper outside the box, even though the keeper was at fault for sticking his head in the way of a ball that a player can only play with their feet. There were a few nasty challenges from the brighton players and surprised they only got 3 yellow cards...

Yeah this whole var thing is useless. If that was our keeper doing it he would have gotten a red for sure.

My thoughts exactly. What a complete fuck up.

And also Salah might have an injury.didnt seem that bad but who knows. Arsenal up next we gonna have to do better. Jota again non existent. And our midfielders are just not doing thier job.. sloppy to say the least

1st half was so slow.. they dominated possession but got nothing for it. TAA again the common focus of their attack. Martinelli was on point tonight.

Allison on top form as always and put in a major save from that Thiago back pass.

Brilliant goal from Jota, struck with such venom. And Bobby damn he just loves arsenal lol..

Onto FA cup Sunday💪 would like to see Jones and taki start also ibu and Kostas.

It was a great game...especially in the 2nd half the game opened up. I still can't help but feel we should play a 3-4-1-2 with Trent and Robbo as wing-backs when attacking and normal RB/LB when defending...i get worried everytime a long ball is played to either flank and we have just our two CB's left behind. Arsenal had the pace on the wings to exploit that, but couldnt take advantage of that. Allison is the man for the big occasions with the big saves...that one of the poor backpass could have easily changed the game - i feel if Arsenal put that away, i dont think we would have come back from that. Have the luck as well on our side, which is what you need as well as the skill and precision. Interesting fact is that Arsenal have not scored against us this season at all, despite all the various meetings in the league and cups.

Tiago provides assists on both ends of the pitch...first to Lacazette who could do anything about it, and then to Jota who showed them how its done. Bobby's goal was just sheer cheeky class...its what you expect from him, finesse. Both those subs of Salah and Bobby, changed the game for the better for us...Salah gave us more width and drew arsenal out wide and bobby, does what bobby does which usually goes unseen and unappreciated by most of the fanbase.

Rumours are that Origi and Taki are leaving at the end of the season....Origi on a free. I can understand him leaving, but I think Taki should be kept as a squad player, very useful and versatile, unless we have other targets that are coming in to fill those gaps.

@Saaj

I feel the same about taki. Really he stepped up allot in those cup games. It would be a shame if we sold him.

Origi will be missed. The clutch legend lol. One of my brothers favourite players. I love how he gets himself into those situations. Like how the fuck 🤣

What you think about Salahs contact?

I personally think if Liverpool do not give in to his salary expectations he should just pack up and leave. The amount of things this guy has done for the club wow. There isn't a more deserving player to fit the salary. The only problem is , where would he go. No club is as dominant as Liverpool at the moment, with the exception of city who I'd say is equal.

If Salah leaves, I dont think it would be to another premier league club....he may go to la liga, or maybe even PSG. HIs contract issue is a bit of the strange one, because with FSG now if you cant keep players who you made into superstars, you are always going to be a target for other clubs to grab them. Salah is still going to hit his prime, I think he has got another good 5 years left in him, his fitness record has been unbelievable - i think he has missed only 8 or 9 games in total. Personally, if it came to Salah, i'd definitely give him a salary increase, but also maybe structure a bonus package for the goals he scores, for hattricks, for hitting specific season targets - and also show some ambition by investing more in the squad, bring in some more big names to show the club is serious - our midfield definitely needs an overhaul. The problem with his contract is that if he gets what he demands, then you have to look at other key players in the squad as well - Allison, Van Dijk, Matip, Mane, Fabinho, Trent, Robbo, etc. Not to say Salah doesnt deserve it, he definitely does...but it shouldnt be all about money - the fact that he is still giving his all for the team despite the contract stalemate tells you alot about his character, he wants to stay here...and definitely doesnt want to leave...but he may be forced to.

Chelsea v Real Madrid
Man city v athletico
Villarreal v Bayern
Liverpool v benfica

Semi final

City or athletic
V
Chelsea or real Madrid

Liverpool or benfica
V
Villarreal or Bayern

Interesting Draw...have to say though, looking at both brackets, we have an easier path to the finals....for a change, considering we had the group of death, and then we had Inter as well. It may be the easier bracket, but by no means are these teams push-overs - we have to treat them with respect, and not under estimate them...and then destroy them. Wonder if its like some kind of record that we had both the Milan teams from Italy, and now we have our 2nd Portuguese team in the tournament...

My guess is its going to be a Chelsea vs Athletico Madrid Semi-final on one end, and a Liverpool vs Bayern on the other side...and the UCL fixtures fall right in the middle of the Man City EPL game as well on either side...so its going to be an interesting run now.

@Saaj

Yeah quite interesting, defs nice to see we getting some breathing room for once!

I'm actually hoping for a City - RM Semi and for us Best case for us will be Villarreal. I want some revenge on RM lol.

FA Cup underway...its a good open game so far.

So, winner of this game plays City in the Semi-Finals....

Well done liverpool. Good win over city in fa cyp

LIVERPOOLS midfield is too old to keep the high press hence we look below average against fast speedy teams.

I agree, I think we need a serious midfield overhaul, Henderson,Milner, Keita, Ox should be shown the door. I don't want to say it but if fabinhos form doesn't improve by the end of the season he may have to be moved on to. Thiago is still influential and I think he has 2 seasons in him.

Agreed.
I would love to get 2/3 new Midfielders
A Right back that can defend
We also going to need a partner for Konate, VVD is slowly but surely declining

Yes 3 midfielders at least, I would say Bellingham top priority and possibly the likes of Ruben neves, Ryan gravenberch, caicedo or Nicola Barella.
As for vvd, I think he's still sharp. Could just be an off season and I have a feeling he'll be up to the pace next season again.
We have another rb, the youngster from Scotland

Personally, I feel a massive overhaul is needed...that midfield is just dead weight at the moment and that is killing us because we get dominated there week in, week out unless if its Man united...then they are good enough.
Milner, Ox, Keita are very likely to be shipped out this season. Hendo is also finished in my opinion, he is probably good if you want to slow things down and sure things up but he doesnt seem like he can handle the intensity anymore.
VVD is definitely on a decline this season, sad to say it. Konate is going to be the future, but we need another 2 defenders as well if you consider that Gomez could leave, Phillips is going to be sold and Matip I think is on his way out.
This is the result of not investing in the squad every season to have that continuity going forward - requirements were misjudged.
You look now that they are trying to sign Matheus Nunes from Wolves but finding the price high...they could have got him much cheaper before Wolves signed him but didnt go for it - makes no sense.
I'd consider the various free options for signing as well noting that Bellingham is the major target and is going to cost alot transfer fee wise.

He has been injured every since he joined us...and he think he is recovering now from an operation he had on his leg. He may be sent out on loan next season, because this season has been a bust for him with his injuries and the operation. We definitely need a RB that can challenge TAA now because he seems to be very complacent when defending.
