Bad deal with Guiding_ink

Unless that member is an attorney, you're better off with speaking to an actual attorney than asking for an unqualified opinion.
100%, I'm just trying to help out a fellow member on setting up a meeting with an attorney. So basically any recommendations, is what I'm asking.

I have received my refund and I'm considering this matter resolved.

Thanks @Toxxyc for the assistance in this matter and thanks to @Guiding_Ink for making the right call at the end.

Everyone else that has messaged me that's still in this entanglement with Frikkie I wish you all the luck. I'll be assisting where I can.

Hi all, this is my first bad deal on Carb and just wanted to know whats the best approach to resolving this issue

Long story short I unfortunately also purchased 1 card (Sapphire RX 570 8GB) from @Guiding_Ink with the exact same back story

So i gave him a month, till the 15th Nov (today), and he responded saying he can pay only a portion of the amount.

This is very tiring keeping to follow up with him and always getting bs. I believe i have been patient and understanding but he sold cards which were not in his possession which is not my problem or fault.

So far I told him that a portion payment was not the arrangement and waiting to hear back from him

Update : Still no response from 3pm yesterday

Not sure if an admin will be able to assist

Update:

Responded by saying he will refund me when he is able to

Not the agreement we had and asked when will that be

I gave him the option pay pay 50% now and 50% next month and got a "I'll see what I can do" yesterday and still no response

any advice on legal actions ?

@MrPopo please assist with this
Not sure if I can help with this. I had gone a legal route to ensure a payment as I wasn't sure who scammed me in the first place. I understand Guiding_ink also got scammed, so whatever agreement they have between each other is their business. I would suggest @Nobo112 only seek legal help if necessary.

I would urge @Guiding_Ink to respond here.

Yeah, @Guiding_Ink hasn't responded since Wednesday so I think he's not taking this seriously that's why I'm considering taking the legal route.

Update:

He paid 1500/5150 so long , its not the agreement but its something

Will follow up in the week to find out when the rest will be paid

Unless I missed it, but can someone please put up the name and number of this dodgy supplier for the rest of us to avoid.

He hasn't responded in over a week, set a date for the 10th/dec for next payment

last response was on the 22/nov

I think I'll take this knock(not much of a choice), and right before Christmas

@Guiding_Ink is unresponsive, would like for his account to get suspended/banned but not sure if this warrants enough for one. Please do be careful if you deal with him personally will never deal with him again

As for "Frikkie" the number I received is 076 709 0277. Can confirm he is a bullsh!ter.Talks a lot and he said he would send the cards obviously didn't

Sorry for your loss, These Facebook resellers that join carb and then fuck people over and leave sucks. That Frikkie guy is from Rustenburg as far as I know.

I’m not saying this guy scammed me but I bought a 6th gen i5 processor from him some time ago. It’s the only processor that I’ve ever experienced die on me after a short while and I’ve played around with various processors over the past 22 years.

Just coincidental. 🤷‍♂️

@Guiding_Ink your feedback on this, please. You've managed to repay some members, I'd like to see it resolved for all.

Die on you? As in the chip stopped working and didn’t work in other boards? I’m no expert but AFAIK, you can only lose a chip due to oxide/gate breakdown or electromigration. Of course the silicon could’ve also become desoldered from the substrate, but this isn’t really observed with CPUs because of how small the die is.

It could’ve possibly been a faulty power stage on your board or something like incorrect voltage handling. I don’t really believe chips such as CPU silicon or GPU silicon can just flat out die. Silicon is perfect until it no longer is. I’m only adding this here because I feel like it’s important to clarify.

It’s a similar situation for RAM ICs. Generally they’re either faulty off of the production line, or they start throwing errors because you’ve degraded the chip either with constantly excessive voltage per that IC, or if you saw a massive fluctuation in voltage from something like a power surge.

I’ve never overclocked a cpu by altering the voltages. Worst case I would use the auto tune in the bios but I don’t really play games so it was just experimenting. However in this case, everything was standard. Was in an h170 itx board. Had a I3 in it, which I donated to my brother. Then replaced with the i5 which I bought as mentioned. It ran extremely slow, I did a bios update and then was fine for a few weeks. It’s not a pc that I used often and was more of a test bench for gpu mining and eventually I started getting blue screens. Can’t remember the code but it was one of those difficult ones that could point to anything. Swapped the ram, reinstalled windows on another new ssd, bios updates…. Nothing. Eventually I swapped the processor with a celeron and the system ran fine until yesterday when it was sold. As mentioned, I’ve never had a CPU fail before so I didn’t suspect it could be the CPU.

Put the i5 processor in other boards…. And nothing. Board wouldn’t even boot. So it’s definitely the CPU.

Lesson learnt: don’t buy CPUs and not test it properly.

I think what happened was that one of the boards it was used in caused the chip to degrade. I don’t mean manually OCing, sometimes a board might just be semi-borked. CPUs don’t generally become faulty on their own. They’re either faulty off of the production line (quite normal), or something damaged the silicon through the duration of its life span.

The fact that the CPU wouldn’t boot in other boards suggests that there was something else going on because unless it was dead, there’s no reason why that would’ve been the case. This is definitely a weird one. Usually a faulty VRM will kill the CPU outright. I think perhaps a board that had the CPU inside suffered a power surge due to load shedding or something. With regards to the other boards, I mean, potentially something else like an incorrect BIOS.

OK so from what I've seen to date, and the last update on the matter, is that @Guiding_Ink was also scammed. Yes, I understand it's a nightmare because now there are unhappy members, but guys, he's paying back the money. Keep in mind this is money he no longer has, so I'm guessing he's working his ass off to get money back to the guys who got scammed in the process as well.

Because of this, he will NOT be banned from Carbonite, because he's trying. This is totally in line with our community. Yes, he could perhaps communicate better, but I for one think it's awesome that he's still doing his part, and not just deleting his account and disappearing with the money.

Update: messaged on Monday for the last payment of R1750 @Guiding_Ink , I excluded the delivery fee

No response yet but I trust he'll let me know soon

@Nobo112 glad you coming right

I agree that atleast Guiding Ink is trying here however I would still stay very far away from him.
Surely he should be selling items that he actually has/owns?

I would also like some clarity on this , shouldn't selling something you don't even have be considered re-selling?

Nope. Plenty of shops and stores online sells without having stuff on hand. TAKEALOT is a great example. Half the business on BoB works that way.
+1.
No other way to do it. Even Amazon does it.
