Bikers!?

Waiting for the parts to swap the brakes on my MT10 with the kit from the R1.
Should be done within the next two weeks.
So had to find an alternative mounting position for the mirrors, this was the end result;
Can see a LOT more than the normal stock mirrors.
These have some sort of anti glare coating as well, so the sun doesn't blind me from behind anymore.

So I decided seeing that today is a pubic holiday to take a ride out to Big Bay to watch the sunrise...
You can imagine my disapointment when it was bloody cloudy to the point where you couldn't see the sunrise except for Seapoint that you could see what shining nice and brightly in the morning sun.
Photos I took on my crappy A50

I'm new to the forums, was actually referred to here by one of my mates in my club. There are quite a few pc enthusiasts in my club as well as gamers ranging right up into our ranking members and to our prospecting members. I am a no-rider due to having to pay for college and other jazz but looking to get back into riding in the coming year.
Ride safe out there famalams, but don't forget to enjoy the ride.

Thoughts on the new Tenere 700? Had a look this past week at Linux Yamaha and was excited at to see this unicorn bike that everyone waited almost 4 years for. The bike was nothing special to be honest, i like the simplicity and reliability of the 700 but build quality looked unrefined, heavier than I expected and f me touching 200K. This bike is a closer relative to the new 690 than the claimed 790 competition when you look at power, weight and gadgetry and honestly the 690 has a few additional features and a 35K difference in price (690 - R165+-) .

I think Yamaha royally fkdup on its price point, they have sold it as a simplistic, all you need, rugged offroad machine but in reality it's a budget build with inflated pricing. If this came in at 160 then it would be a better story. Maybe I could be persuaded that the price difference isn't that big if I managed to get my hands on it for a weekend braap and hit some dirt and road twisties. Until then im giving this a 4/10.

On this topic though, I got to ride the new Triumph Tiger 900 Rally Pro at Triumph Sandton. Yes yes and yes, that is a super machine! Sure it's 220k plus minus some rondelas but it is filled with tit tech, it's butter smooth, the shifting gives me a semi, it balances and holds its weight better than its competition (my opinion) and it looks fking amazing. I didn't get to do a offroad session but looking forward to it. If you get a chance to go test it, even for shits and giggles just do it.

Thought I'd share some recent exp on bike tests, anyone else done similar recently and have some opinions. Keen to hear

Welcome buddy.
Plenty of everything here. Enjoy

That T70 is definitely not on par with the 690 other than price, single vs twin and that alone makes the bikes incomparable. I've ridden the Husky701 and I promise you that the two cannot be compared.

The T7 is only competing with the other middleweight adventure twins - the KTM 790 and the BMW Middleweights 800-850. I'd foot an extra R25k and get a 790 if the choice was mine, unfortunately Yammie got fucked because SA cannot recognize that motorbikes would do far more for the country than taxis, hence the huge price. Also if we had imported then at January's exchange rate, then the price would be a hugely different story.

I agree though, the price is a massive blunder for SA and we just have to accept it.

I've ridden the 701 as well, very cool. I've owned a 690 Enduro R and the new one is really good. With that twin counter balance shaft and new electronics does not feel like a single. It's way smoother and power delivery is great. The 790 is much furtehr from a T7 than it is 690.

As soon as the 890 Adv/R arrives the 790 price will drop and then it will be an absolute no brainer. The T7 is falling further behind in its respective class although you can argue it's in its own class due to the simplicity but then you can't price it in its marketed competitors price class as it's really not a true rival.

Meh...

couldn't care less about a MT7 engine repurposed for the "famous" tenere brand.
Don't even care what it costs or what it can do, If I wanted to ride a CP 700cc engine then I would ride a MT07. Probably a lot more fun.

On a different point, I've fiddled some more with the settings and BMW actually made some software adjustments as well for fwee :).
Now my bike is smoother and it loves to hold my wheel up when hammering it. Soo much fun, many renewed smiles now and any excuse now to take it out for a quick spin :p

You don't ride a bike just for the motor, the MT07 is a road bike, very different to the T7 ADV bike. Same motor but drive ratios and fuel mapping changes alot.

Strange to want to ride a motor instead of a bike. The bike must match where you'd want to ride it, I'd rather walk than ride an MT07 @ 120kmph down a dirt road lol.

Adventure is taking the wrong tools, to the right places.

Anyone here got an old, even vrot, motorbike lying around?

i've had an idea :D

Ideally 4-stroke in the 125-500 range.

Funnily enough I actually might be able to help with that.
A 1996 or so Kawasaki ER5
500cc parallel twin.

Working and on the road.

having been a little quiet in here since my @PandaAttack1 broke his scooter... I figured I would post a nice little clip from the recent Kyalami track-daze.
Man does that panigale come alive around that track! having never been on lami before, I started the day doing 2:20's, but ended up with a 2:10.340. VERY happy with that as it puts me in top 10 pace of the BOTTS class.
If you have never had a ride on Kyalami, i would strongly suggest it! wide, FORKING fast, and tons of fun.

Turns out the list price now of the T7 is only R10k less than the 790r, for a lot less bike. Makes zero sense.
My 790R new in Jul was R200k, T7 currently advertised at R199k

One is discontinued, the other will be sold for the next 20 years.

I think it depends on how often you want to go back to the shop, or risk getting stranded on the trail.
I'm not hating on KTM at all here, would love to get myself a 990 BUT that Indochina piece of shite has some very scary design/quality issues.

Not surprised that the bike was discontinued so quickly.

As I've posted in another thread, I took delivery of this beast on Friday. We should have a GP group ride soon.

Did you trade the BMW or keep it ?
As a massive fan of naked bikes, I am heavily judging your decision :p

Its funny. you were a good friend and now he has a Panigale.
If he was half as decent friend, you would have also has a S1000R by now, not true ?
thanks to that friend that on one sunday spring day chucked his V4 keys at you... thats what friends are for...
