OK I'll reveal a bit more. For now, there will be no alcohol sales from my brewery. It'll be homebrew kits with some accessories only. I have a few kits ready to go. I still have to decide on shipping but it'll probably be with
@Dom for now. His prices are competitive and his service is nice and quick.
So what am I doing? First and foremost, something called Fresh Wort Kits. It's an all-in-one homebrew solution for the starter, the intermediate or the advanced brewer.
For total newbies or people who have never brewed before in their life, it allows you to brew your own beer at home, without the need of a fermenting vessel. Yes, a fermenting vessel is recommended for a lot of reasons, but with the kit you get a pressure release cap as well as a dose of yeast you can use to ferment 20 litres of beer in the comfort of your own home - right in the container the wort comes in!
For the intermediate brewers, it'll give a taste of true "all grain" beer, with no additives, preservatives, "cheating" sugars, etc. It's nothing but three ingredients - water, malted barley and hops. You can see what you can achieve with all-grain brewing, and see if you like it, before you spend money on brew pots and grain bags and malt and hops and whatnot. You pay slightly more for a Fresh Wort Kit than you would pay for your traditional "kit-and-kilo" brew kits, but the difference is noticeable. There's no lost hop aroma or flavour, there's no concentration, heating, boiling, dissolving or diluting of any kind. Also, the kit is still all-natural, with no dextrose or other cheap sugars added.
For the experienced brewers, it gives a quick and easy way to brew a good beer when you don't have the time for a full brew day. Break the seal, decant into your own fermenter, pitch your favourite style-specific yeast and enjoy a 2-minute brew day, knowing you're still busy fermenting a full all-grain brew. Convenience to the max.
I have two FKWs in stock right now. They are Vienna lager styled beers. Light and easy to drink, this 4.6% ABV (after you fermented it at home) is a refreshing beer with a good malty kick to it. At a nice 24 IBUs it is right up the alley of most people starting out with craft beers, or for people who don't like those bitter "hop bomb" IPAs or APAs or NEIPAs.
The kit includes a 20l jug of wort (this is what we call beer before yeast is added), although it typically contains a bit more than just 20l. It also includes a packet of brewer's yeast and a pressure cap. The process is really simple: You buy the kit, open the jug (break the seal), pitch in the yeast and cap it with the pressure cap. The yeast ferments the wort, and the pressure cap releases excess CO2 to ensure your jug doesn't explode. After 7 to 10 days your beer is ready to bottle!
Down the line I have Pale Ale kits (testing one recipe tomorrow) as well as other, more "advanced" brewing kits. Want your own truly all-grain whisky, or perhaps a custom designed craft Gin you made in the comfort of your own home? How about a nice, sweet, dark rum you can brag to your friends with?
