Had a great battle with these guys Heat 1 and Heat 2. Heat 3 I managed to pass them very early and pull away.

Just get a 2nd set of Tyres with knobbies :p

Would like to get a second bike for that.

Will need to change suspension setup, breaks and much more everytime i switch between knobblies and slicks.

Perhaps you need to get a set of slicks for yours :p

When did this change? I had a learners in 2010 somewhere and back then you could only ride anything <= 125cc.
Always

You can ride anything if you are 18 years old. Under 18 it is a 125.
Only difference is you are not allowed to ride with a pillion when you only have a learners

LOL sodat ek my gat kan afval

I can imagine that a lot of settings need to change on the suspension and brakes.

What speeds do you get to during a race, say avg speed and maximum speed?

Polokwane is probably the fastest track. We have to change lots on the gearing. 180km/h

That is fast, I max out at around 130-135 gps speed but that is more than enough for dirt and yes obviously geared very differently
My ride on Monday the avg speed was 39km/h and max 130km/h

Yeah it is quite quick for these 450s and especially how quick they accelerate with these sticky tyres.
Have not really checked average speed before.

Yeah on that track we run a 15 front and 42 rear if I am not mistaken

Lekka scoot bru!
250 or 300?

Saw this at bikers warehouse 2 weeks back.

Just got back from Matat2Pont, too much fun.
Next up is snow and rock

250. I’ve had two 300’s before this.
250 suites my weight and riding style more, 300 is nice for sub-4 hour riding, anything more it’s too much power to handle... imo.

Ya the bike was there for its first service, that’s probably when you saw it. (y)

Looks great!

anything more it’s too much power to handle, just ride faster and you wont need to worry, but most races wont take you past the 4 hour mark.
long training days maybe or Roof / IMPI / Wildsides (When it rains...Ffffffuuu)

Our training rides last any where from 3 - 6 hours, and more often then not I was going over that 4 hour barrier of mine. Isn’t enjoyable to ride to survive after that 4 hour mark, especially when you know you have a long way to go.

With the 250, if feel just as quick, but can be consistent and do it for longer.

Just found this thread XD

First bike (if it really counts): SYM Crox 125 (know it isn't technically a motorbike but it's the first thing I rode that had 2 wheels and an engine XD)
Current bike: 2019 Honda XR150LEK

Dream bike: KTM Duke 390

Kinda still learning to ride. Really like the look of the Duke. Tempted to get a Honda VFR 400 or CBR 300 as a next step up from the XR.

The 390 has a nasty habit of overheating, not sure if this is sorted with the latest model. but it's KTM so i doubt it.

VFR 400 is a great bike but they are grey import's and rather old now. If you can find a low mileage clean one then go for it but they are getting scarce. This and the GSXR400 and the 2T (RGV, MITO, RS.. ) were all fantastic bikes, sounded good and had some balls, not like the new small/mid capacity bikes now.

If i chose now and had the cash to do so i would look at the DRZ 400 or if wanted sporty the Z400 by Kawasaki.

You have a great scoot though, hose XR's go forever.

First bike:
Onroad:2010 BMW R1200GS Adventure

Current bike:
Onroad:2017 BMW R1200GS

Dream bike:
Onroad: Ducati 1260 Multistrada Enduro
Hopefully it will be in the garage by Feb next year :)

Yeah I'm really happy with the XR. Couldn't have chosen a better bike to learn gears on. It's not the slowest but it just doesn't handle freeway speeds all that well.
It was an absolute steal. Retail from Honda is around 35k. I paid 22k for it with 120kms on the clock. Admittedly, the bike looked to have been crashed at some point (the front fairing has some scratching on it, throttle grip is missing a chunk of rubber and there is a dent in the tank but otherwise it runs absolutely perfect).

I'm still weighing up my options in terms of an upgrade in the future. I really want a 600 or so cc but a colleague of mine let me sit on his Kawasaki Ninja 600 (early 2000s model) and I was too afraid to ride it as I could barely lift the bike off of the kickstand :LOL:
